oh, there's a priority list or whatever somewhere. After selecting mypy as checker, it works on buffer save.

Hi :wave: ! First time on Gitter; thanks for all you do with Flycheck! Quick question: I know that https://github.com/flycheck/flycheck-google-cpplint was removed from MELPA because there is no longer a maintainer of that package. Is there any objection to having it maintained in the future / are you looking for someone to maintain it?
fmdkdd
@fmdkdd
@felker No objection for it to continue as far as I know. It just went under the radar (as most extensions did) when lunaryorn left. And sure, if you want to help maintaining it, that can be arranged :+1:.
Kyle Gerard Felker
@felker
@fmdkdd I would be happy to help maintain it. I have plenty of experience with Google's cpplint.py, and the extension appears to only need a moderate amount of attention (clean up the README, get it back on MELPA, etc.)
Amos Bird
@amosbird
Hello
How does this work?
it lists all errors inline
Compro Prasad
@Compro-Prasad
@amosbird That is supposed to be in terminal where tooltips don't appear
Amos Bird
@amosbird
hmm, I mean how does it list all the errors in the same time?
I can only show one error when moving to the pos
Compro Prasad
@Compro-Prasad
that is a good feature anyway
Would be good to hear from @fmdkdd

hi all, i've created a js-mode-hook in emacs like this but it's also getting triggered when i open html files (i guess because mhtml-mode uses js-mode and calls js-mode-hook):
(defun my-work-js-mode-hook ()
  "My work-specific JavaScript mode hook"
  (flycheck-mode)
  (flycheck-select-checker 'javascript-standard))
is there a better way for me to achieve this?
i only want it to check js files and not json or html...
fmdkdd
@fmdkdd
@Compro-Prasad @amosbird The screenshot you pasted lists all erros from the same group, not all errors. AFAIK, only the rust checkers support that for now.
@emerick_twitter That's a tricky case. Maybe you could check the filename extension?
yshui
@yshui
So I have a checker, if I run it with C-c ! C-c, everything is fine, and the errors seem to be parsed correctly. But when I actually use that checker, I got nothing in the error list.
What can I do?
yshui
@yshui
Nvm. Forgot to return errors from error-filter

I've asked a question about including conditional expressions in a flycheck command on emacs.stackexchange. Anyone able to offer a solution? https://emacs.stackexchange.com/questions/46770/evaluating-conditional-expression-in-flycheck-syntax-checker-command

@robstewart57
@fmdkdd thanks very much, yes that worked.
Compro Prasad
@Compro-Prasad
an answer to the question on stack exchange would be better
@robstewart57 you can answer your own question
Rob Stewart
@robstewart57
@Compro-Prasad I'm drafting one just now, thanks.
fmdkdd
@fmdkdd
@Compro-Prasad Indeed, but I don't have a stackexchange account ;)

Hi, any evil users? How can I disable the flycheck popups when in insert and visual mode?
IQubic
@IQubic
So flycheck seems to have completely broken for me.
If I turn off flycheck, then try to turn it back on, things fail. Here's the error I get when turning flycheck on (using debug-on-error): http://dpaste.com/0VM05R9
flycheck-verify-setup is failing for me. See this backtrace: http://dpaste.com/3G35W1N

@IQubic
Note that I'm using the dante-checker and hlint as defined in this repo: https://github.com/jyp/dante
Scroll down until you get to the dante + hlint section.

Hi
https://emacs.stackexchange.com/questions/46974/run-flycheck-checker-command-inside-docker-container does someone know how to run checker command inside docker container?
Dang
@Dangnm_twitter
I want to get the list of errors and use a customized tabulated list created by me to display it. Can I do that?
fmdkdd
@fmdkdd
@Lispython Looks like your $(pyenv prefix 2.7) wasn't evaluated. Try to evaluate it using the (eval checker argument
@Dang Look at how flycheck does it. You want to look at flycheck-current-errors
Alexandr
@Lispython
@fmdkdd I would evaluate it inside docker container if it's possible.
fmdkdd
@fmdkdd
@Lispython does the command work if you pass it to docker outside of Flycheck?
Alexandr
@Lispython
@fmdkdd only with sh -c and single quote: /usr/local/bin/docker run -it emacsd sh -c '$(pyenv prefix 2.7.15)/bin/flake8 --help'
fmdkdd
@fmdkdd
@Lispython Look at the output of flycheck-compile to help you pass the argument correctly. Probably a quoting issue, I don't have time to test though, sorry :(
Micah Werbitt
@werbitt
hi
I'm having a problem checking haskell buffers. I'm getting : "flycheck-buffer: Wrong number of arguments: (1 . 2), 3". I've tracked it down to the 'flycheck-may-enable-checker' function specifically "(funcall enabled)". I'm using the haskell-ghc checker, but I'm not sure where to go from here.
Micah Werbitt
@werbitt
fyi, after digging into this further, I figured out that disabling nix-mode package fixed flycheck
fmdkdd
@fmdkdd
@werbitt Might want to ping the nix-mode maintainers if they aren't aware of the issue

Anybody know how to get flycheck to work with python virtual environments? I keep getting "cannot find module" (python-mypy) or "unable to import" (python-pylint). I use pyenv to switch to my environment within emacs
