@mchapman No worries, I am still interested in alternatives to ui-date - for instance for custom date/time picker. I experimented with specifying a custom directive, but ui-date was still appended after my directive's content.
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
@cupofnestor I keep trying to find time to do a bootstrap datepicker one. You will need to remove ui-date from your page to have it not invite itself along to any date field - because of this horror. It predates any thoughts of having plugins. Sorry.
cupofnestor
@cupofnestor
@mchapman Indeed, we found that 'horror' - is it necessary now that you have fng-ui-date?
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
It isn't, but I can't see a very simple way to get rid of it, and I haven't personally got a use case where I want to use ui-date alongside another directive (or a browser date field) so it isn't high on my priority list. And it is quite a long list. tbh this is something I would be happy to live with until Angular 1 is a dimming memory, but I would help anyone who wasn't happy with that.
@cupofnestor so if you are interested in being that person, don't hesitate to let me know
cupofnestor
@cupofnestor
@mchapman I'm okay with what we've done for now, and it certainly seems you'll have your hands full moving to angular2.0.
BTW, have you tested with mongoDB 3.0? I ran into a few small issues with it the other day, but I've got my folks working on 2.6 for now. The solution may be as simple as upgrading mongoose. I've got an environment set up, so I may end up testing further if you'd be interested in my results.
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
Someone did some testing and a couple of bugs were fixed, but I am running 2.6 on my production sites, so I am far from confident that everything is perfect. Would be very interested in your results.
@cupofnestor (keep forgetting that I need to do that to attract your attention)

@jermdw
hi
this is my first time using gitter
anyone here?
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
@jermdw Yes - I am now
Can I help you with anything?
cupofnestor
@cupofnestor
@mchapman is it possible to nest uploadSchemas? I need to nest an array of images with captions. http://pastebin.com/7E2JVZb7
I could create a separate model and use a ref...
@mchapman to be clear, this "works"ish but I get an undefined error on line 82 of fng-jq-upload because the filename does not exist.
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
@cupofnestor Sorry for (very) slow response. Was travelling for ages yesterday to a holiday destination with very dodgy connectivity. Is this still an issue, or have you found a work-around? (Because it looks pretty hard to me at first glance)
cupofnestor
@cupofnestor
I used another model and a ref, I think that is a better way to do it anyway ( peer wanted it all-in-one ). I was also able to add image thumbnails to the list-view through some hackery.
@mchapman
I haven't poked too deeply into the code to see why one cannot use a nested schema as a list field, but It would be pretty handy in this case to have the entire upload schema show up in the listSchema so we could handle image previews through a directive.

@cupofnestor
@mchapman, one question while I have your attention. Is it possible to configure the router to allow me to - for instance - open an editor in a new tab? Basically, the router does not seem to be parsing location when it is "typed in" to the url bar, only when a link is clicked. This would be a really helpful feature e.g. opening multiple models for editing, or bookmarking specific records.
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
@cupofnestor For some reason Gitter didn't notify me of your messages, sorry. Are they still current? Not sure what you mean about the router - this works as I expect it to. can you give me an example?
cupofnestor
@cupofnestor
@mchapman, Hi. The best example is just to right-click->open in new tab on the edit link in list view. This is in a Yeoman-generated project. I think this is my shortcoming in understanding HTML5 mode with express?
If I paste any such /data url, I'm redirected to the base ('/') state of the app.
/api endpoints work as expected, returning JSON.
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
@cupofnestor I just created a new Yeoman app (using the default options), created a couple of applicants went to http://localhost:9000/data/Applicant right clicked on one and opened it fine in a new tab. What do you do differently?
cupofnestor
@cupofnestor
let me try with a new project.
ui.router?
That could be since it is most likely a routing issue.
cupofnestor
@cupofnestor
@mchapman I just created a new Yoman app using uirouter (no auth, no socket ). Created a few applicants, went to localhost:9000, clicked on Applicants=>Listing, right-clicked on one and opened in new tab. Tab opened and redirected to main state.
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
@cupofnestor I opened an issue on your behalf. I have mostly done the work (not that it amounted to much) but am bundling it in with another bit of work, and probably won't push until imageMagick release a patch at the weekend (as that effects fng-jq-upload)
cupofnestor
@cupofnestor
@mchapman, thanks.

I'm sure this has been asked a zillion times, but I'm not sure where to search I have an app where I have several data models: forms-angular has magically created the screens to create and edit and list the data for all of these models. Now, however, I want to create a screen that has a bunch of select fields, and a button: select stuff stored in mongo for these other data models, then click on the button. Can someone point me to how this would be done? Thanks!
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
Hi @animeshk_twitter - are you trying to search for data in the collections 'managed by' forms-angular? If so then you can use the global-search directive as sown at https://github.com/forms-angular/website/blob/master/app/partials/navbar.html#L18
It searches all the indexed fields for a match.

@animeshk_twitter
Thanks! That's not quite the circumstance I was looking for. Imagine I had a table called transportation-options, a table called activities, and a table called friends. Using mongoose and forms-angular, these screens would be trivial to implement. Then I want a screen that does NOT correspond to a mongoose table. It would have three selects (dropdowns). In the first, I can select a transportation-option; in the second, I can select an activity; in the third, I can select a friend. All the dropdowns are populated from the tables. At the bottom of this screen would be a "Do It" button, which does something-or-another. This seems like it would be a simple screen to implement, but I have no idea where to even start! Thanks a ton!
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
Probably the best way to do that would be to set up three separate https://github.com/angular-ui/ui-select controls
^ @animeshk_twitter
Mark Chapman
@mchapman

@animeshk_twitter I have just thought of an alternative that makes use of forms-angular. Create another collection with fields that refer to the other three. Use forms-angular to generate a form for you. You could then see what the form schema looks like by adding

<pre>{{ formSchema | json }}</pre>

to your form and pass that directly to a <form-input> directive as in the first couple of examples of https://www.forms-angular.org/#/schemas. Unfortunately I think that the select directive 'parks' quite a lot of stuff in the base scope that you would need to figure out for yourself....

One day I will tidy it up (hopefully)
Jesus Rivero
@jesusdaver86
You can upload a heavy web page using firebase ?
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
Hi @jesusdaver86 - really sorry for slooooow response. I moved house on 26th and the brilliant ISP I have chosen (BT) have left me without broadband for a week (I still am - am in a cafe trying to catch up). At the moment forms-angular is tied to mongodb at the backend - I have thought about liberating it, but I have been busy for ages so not even made a start. Sorry.
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
Don't know if anyone will see this, but I got some funding for a project I am creating with forms-angular and need some assistance. At the moment it would be part time / temporary, but I am hoping it would be possible to extend. In addition to fng / MEAN stack we use Ionic 3+. Remote workers should apply.
Viking Jonsson
@Vikingjonsson
Hello, stupid question but i wonder if forms-angular.org is the same as the site angularforms.org which i removed now a days
@mchapman
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
@Vikingjonsson angularforms.org seems to be available (squatting rights are hereby granted to you!). angular-forms.org redirects to forms-angular.org.
Viking Jonsson
@Vikingjonsson
Sorry i was not clear, i mean the angular-forms.js package had its documentation on formsangular.org. I was wondering if it has any relation to the angularforms.org that seems to developed by you @mchapman
Mark Chapman
@mchapman
@Vikingjonsson angular-forms.org just redirects to forms-angular.org, which is the documentation site for the forms-angular package.
