i have setup the gitignore method here : https://github.com/alok760/meilix-generator/tree/conf

@tabesin
Great!!! Sounds very promising. Of course it should be tested, equally in a private environment. In consideration of avoiding breaking critical stuff, I would suggest to get back to the good practice to have the 2-3 peer reviews including a confirmation that it worked.
I would also like to point to fossasia/meilix-generator#79 which could be fixed along.

@alok760
do we have a default wallpaper for Meilix
Pranav Kulshrestha
@pranav1698
Sorry for the inactivity, I was busy with fossasia summit this week
@alok760 Yes we do have a default, you cam check that on the meilix artwork repo, we give the user an option to change the wallpaper using the generator

@mariobehling

Dear @/all FOSSASIA is again in GSoC! This is great and we hope we will see many applications. The number of slots an organization gets can vary a lot and we never know in advance. So, it is very difficult to say which project gets a slot. Also some projects might receive more quality applications than others. So, we would adjust the number of slots. For Google it could also be relevant how many applications a project receives. More good applications would show Google that a certain software project is very relevant and they might provide more slots. If FOSSASIA receives more applications than others then we might get more slots. However, this is just one indication and community standing and other factors are important. In any case, please help to spread the news and support students to apply for a project with FOSSASIA.

To make it easier for us we always try to come up with a general starting point for slot distribution according to FOSSASIA's priorities and some of the core mentors input (even if they change later). Some of the projects are not listed yet on the ideas page. So, we will need to add them too, but students can always come up with their own idea. In any case over the years we achieved to focus more on actual features and bug resolution. Simply updating Readmes, adding FAQ and about pages, updating to the next version of a libary etc. is not enough for a project. We would like to see improvements and features in an application that makes it more usable and more stable.

If we would get 35 slots this year the following could be a potential way to distribute slots.

Project - Potential Slot Distribution

Badge Magic Firmware/Hardware Integration - 1

Hello, I have submitted my gsoc proposal two days ago, expecting a review for the same
@xeon-zolt you look onto the issue fossasia/meilix-generator#131
Harsh Lathwal
@xeon-zolt

@xeon-zolt you look onto the issue fossasia/meilix-generator#131

looked ! you want to add custom script option to generator ?

Pranav Kulshrestha
@pranav1698
I was thinking of adding it, but need more thoughts we can add another option.. I am not clear about this though
Harsh Lathwal
@xeon-zolt
where exactaly is the confusuion ?
Pranav Kulshrestha
@pranav1698
This thing can be implemented either by giving a binary option and saving it in the name travis_script_1.sh and send it to the build server in the form of a base64 stringbut this option will create a huge base64 string
So another option would be hosting it as we are doing with the wallpaper
Harsh Lathwal
@xeon-zolt
In that case I think we should make it clear to the user that his script will be hosted on some public server
Pranav Kulshrestha
@pranav1698
Yeah, i will look onto it more
Pranav Kulshrestha
@pranav1698
Currently, I am working on the dark theme for the meilix desktop and subsequently work on this
@xeon-zolt thanks for the blog, https://blog.fossasia.org/lxqt-panel-theme-for-meilix/ it is of great help is there any other file where you have made any changes for the default theme
Pranav Kulshrestha
@pranav1698
Also if you could review fossasia/meilix-generator#438
Harsh Lathwal
@xeon-zolt
@pranav1698 sorry I dont remember but I followed the documentation of KDE for theming cause that is also based on qt. apart from qss files only thing is to change the default theme part of lxqt
Pranav Kulshrestha
@pranav1698

Hi, everyone! I just saw the meilix project while going through FOSSASIA repositories. I couldn't find much information about it except that it's similar to Ubuntu/Debian. Is there some place where a proper introduction is hosted for the distro along with some screenshots of how it looks and behaves?
Abishek V Ashok
@abishekvashok
@cseas see the readme perhaps?
Abhijeet Singh
@cseas

@abishekvashok I read the one here: https://github.com/fossasia/meilix

The README contains information mostly helpful for setting it up and contributing. But no clue is provided as to how it looks or behaves. I already am on a linux distro (Ubuntu).

The installation instructions for running locally show Lubuntu. I'm a bit confused. Is there a video or article I can read to get an overview of the OS?

tabesin
@tabesin
@cseas I propose you to use the meilix generator to get an idea https://meilix-generator.herokuapp.com/ which is btw at https://github.com/fossasia/meilix-generator

@tabesin
@meets2tarun Mario mentioned that you will go to debconf and present Meilix?
Tarun Kumar
@meets2tarun
@tabesin , yes I'll be presenting Meilix in Debconf
tabesin
@tabesin
cool
tabesin
@tabesin

the switch
"32-bit Support

Does your distribution needs 32bit support.
Default is 64bit."
is irritating. You mean: do you want a 32 bit build.

"32bit support" is something entirely different, it means supporting 32bit on 64 bit systems. sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

Tarun Kumar
@meets2tarun
yes
