@pradeepgangwar @ritikamotwani @srv-twry @CosmicCoder96 @niranjan94 I am having trouble creating an event in the legacy repo, can't go past the loading screen. Could you check and verify? Maybe I am missing something?

@srv-twry I think broken pipe error will not occur on gunicorn as it's a production server. To prevent this on Flask's own WSGI server, you can enable threading:
app.run(threaded=True)

could we have a package manager
I mean
Could we create a package for the server
Saurav Tiwary

What kind of package ?

@mariobehling
May 20 2018 10:03
@Kreijstal Yes, a package for distributions would be great - later. It does not make sense to have packages if devs already aren't able to install the system locally manually.

If someone is not able to run the v2 app (Frontend decoupled with backend) locally (continuously) after refreshing the page then goto Home DIR and run
  1. sudo gedit /etc/environment
  2. Edit this file with line API_HOST="http://localhost:5000"
  3. Close the file
  4. Run source /etc/environment
    This will add environment variable API_HOST as system wide
    Just let me know whether it works or not for all of you?

@bhaveshAn @srv-twry @mayank8318 @Kreijstal @pradeepgangwar @niranjan94 @SaptakS Can we deploy the Open Event frontend to gh-pages?E.g. using this https://www.npmjs.com/package/ember-cli-deploy-github-pages

May 20 2018 11:46
@mariobehling Yes, I think so. Also there is Surge which we have been using from a long time in frontend projects like Loklak_search and Susper (to provide demo links in PRs). So Surge can also be a good alternative here.

@bhaveshAn Surge is good for testing, but not for continuous deployment of the project. "I think so" is good. Can you make it happen?

@ritikamotwani @pradeepgangwar @Masquerade0097 @sridharjajoo @agbilotia1998 @Kreijstal @bhaveshAn @maxlorenz @schedutron @srv-twry @mishuvs @mayank8318 We realized during the call today that people still have not set up the Open Event backend and frontend online. There was also the question how mentors can help. The challenge is that mentors often have day time jobs and cannot engage in all issues continuously. In contrast GSoC provides the resources for students to take their time with issues, research and look into code. So, if you have not achieved to set it up yet, please look into the code, into Travis (it is working here), the scripts and check on stackoverflow, flask documentation and other sites if you can find out what is the issue. Please add your online setups on the Wiki: https://github.com/fossasia/open-event-server/wiki/Student-Deployments

@schedutron @srv-twry @mayank8318 can u try running frontend while using API_HOST as your local instance of open-event-server? for me it is giving 500 error in event creation wizard at sponsors step.
Pulling recent changes from server caused this problem. Before that I was 20 commits back on server.

Yes @mariobehling , Open Event Frontend can be deployed on gh-pages as Badgeyay is also deployed on gh-pages in the same way by using ember deploy gh-pages.
