ok, so the bug works like this, sometimes when you create an event for the first time in the database, while logged in, it will throw this error the whole time, and it seems the fix is clearing the cookies, after that it open-event will work normally, and you can create events with no issue
This just happens once, which makes me worry about stability.
I've not managed a sureway to reproduce the bug

Reviewed and added some comments on the PR.
Please avoid adding non-standard api's which are painful when we try to consume it in the frontend. Ember JS heavily relies on conventions and customizing things is extremely difficult and hence it would be great if the server devs take care of this as much as possible.
