Dear @/all #PocketScienceLab (PSLab) & FOSSASIA are planning to participate again in #GSoC + We are running a paid #Internship program ourselves.

Applications: https://fossasia.org/internship

Ideas Lists for SUSI.AI, Badgeyay, Phimpme, Susper, loklak following soon

Should students apply for both programs and be accepted into GSoC later on, they would be able to switch to it, if they wish to do so.

Also, if participants want to work for a few weeks from our office in the Mekong-Delta in Vietnam, it is also possible. All details on the applications form page.

Please also help to spread the news and retweet: https://twitter.com/mariobehling/status/1090569470471561216

@mariobehling Can I work on this internship from home? Also, can I only work on the internship provided by foss asia and not gsoc?
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
@rakshitkumarcse Yes, all possible.

The WS generator has run out of credits. Could anyone set it up on their private Heroku account? https://github.com/fossasia/open-event-wsgen

@mariobehling Is the Heroku build causing error due to this only ?

If yes, I can set it up on my Heroku account .

Hello, everyone. Can anyone guide me how to start contributing to this project?

hello, everyone. I tried uploading the json on the deployed application. Well, the application never tells you the exact structure of the json which should be uploaded. In the documentation, it is written that the uploaded json should have info about speakers and events so I tried with a random json and it returned an error saying invalid json which is pretty obvious. Could some one help me out to figure out how to handle this? Shouldn't we add the required structure of json in documentation?

@mariobehling The project is more than 250 Mb in size, and it's still downloading. Opening an issue for reducing the size of the project.
300 Mb and counting ...
Prateek Jain
@prateekj117
After 400 Mb, I gave up, cloned the dev branch, it's just 58 Mb.
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
@prateekj117 I think the history of the gh-pages branch is stored as well. @iamareebjamal Can we use the same way that is used for APK branches of Android apps to reduce the size of this repo?
Prateek Jain
@prateekj117
@mariobehling Yaa, it is.
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
@prateekj117 Could you find out how this is done in Android repos, please? The apk branch of Android projects generates an apk on each merged PR, but the history of that branch is not stored. So, the branch stays small. We need it to work in the same way in the gh-pages branch of the website generator repository.

@mariobehling Ok. Will look into it.

@mariobehling
@prateekj117 Any update on the website generator? We need it very soon for our upcoming events.
Prateek Jain
@prateekj117
@mariobehling It's not working rn, not even if you upload a zip file or the eventyay API link for the JSON of the event.
I am debugging the first part, for the later part, I think fossasia/open-event-server#6213 may be the issue. Though I haven't debugged the later part much.
Prateek Jain
@prateekj117
So I solved some errors the system was throwing, now locally, it's stuck in this step: INFO: Extracting data from the uploaded jsons. Those who have used the system earlier, does this step take some extraordinary time, or is it stuck? It isn't throwing any error.
Prateek Jain
@prateekj117
Ignore. Found the problem.

Here's my PR for solving common bugs being experienced using the platform. fossasia/open-event-wsgen#2144
Screenshot from 2019-08-03 18-43-59.png
Uploading zip file seems to generate proper code for the website (with some bugs).
But there are still a lot of bugs while using the eventyay endpoint.
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
@prateekj117 Thanks. Please keep us posted and take out the [WIP] ones you are ready for reviews. Ping the team then to get things reviewed. Please also ensure the JSON files can be exported from eventyay.com. And of course the API functionality is really important.
Prateek Jain
@prateekj117
@mariobehling So the v2 code excepts json in the older format. I don't think v2 ever supported jsonapi specification.

@prateekj117 What is missing to finalize this PR of yours? fossasia/open-event-wsgen#2144
Prateek Jain
@prateekj117
It's not rendering the website right, plus, it was rendering the site when given zip file of the event containing old json format.
I will be working on the API part now as that's more important. Also, I don't think wsgen ever supported the v2 version.
