yo guys, im afraid I don’t think I can come in today, got some major tooth pain issues again so gonna try and get seen as emergency by my dentist, which would be at about 12.30ish. Hopefully that will sort it out for good but don’t think i’ll feel up for coming down to mile end after. I’ll spend the day looking at the youtube api though and reacquainting myself with csv’s, let me know what you get up to and if if you do any planning

m8 good luck!
i have some paperwork to do so i will work remotely, but ill do the same (youtube api and shit). If anyone has any thoughts we can stick them on a pivotal tracker but i think there's not too much we can do until the person comes in tomorrow to give us some guidance

fucking teeth eh, who needs em?
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 07:30
idk you tell me, but id guess having teeth is necessary depending on your diet

Hi guys did you get Rebecca’s email
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 13 2015 09:51
yep. just been thinking through anything we might want to ask her before she comes in tomorrow. I guess her coming down at 6 today wouldn’t make much sense
but yeah we should get back to her before too long
I think most of my questions so far are regarding how much traffic she is expecting to receive through the project and the volume of data that will be in the csv's
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 09:56
yeah will think about questions too
David Beech

I guess what kind of data so we know how to customise the reports perhaps?
I’ll email her now so she knows we’re alive. And let her know we’ll send over some questions later on.

sounds good
I dunno if she is gonna have any specific ideas/recommendations for technologies to use but I guess we can think that through on our own anyway
she mentioned an email notification system to i’d be keen to get to know stripe
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 10:10
stripe is for payments right?
David Beech
@beechware
Apr 13 2015 10:11
you mean mailgun?
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 10:11
would be good to know if she already has a db set up for her own work
but maybe its not the sort we'd use
with respect to clients signing up, i wonder whether it would be they'd call up rebecca/email her and then she'd manually add them
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 13 2015 10:13
oh yeah oops thats the one
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 10:13
as opposed to a signup system
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 13 2015 10:13
she must have a db of some sort but if she is still doing a lot of it manually it could be just a spreadsheet or something
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 10:13
yeah likely
from a brief look, it seems we'll need tech for
csv/xls splitting, authentication, mailing
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 13 2015 10:15
I imagine the number if clients she has probably won’t be changing rapidly so them contacting her directly may well be the simplest way to do that
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 10:15
yeah my thoughts too
at least, thats th etech for the 1st part
i think
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 13 2015 10:15
yeah i’m mostly thinking about just part 1 for now
I think we’d need a fair bit more detail about part 2 before we can work out how feasible it is
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 10:16
yeh, but i'd guess if we dont deal with the archived video, but deal with just metadata
it'd be an interface with the youtube api (posting) but we save the data entered as info
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 13 2015 10:17
and depending on how the clients want the reports themselves, if we’d need to create them in a more specific format of something simple like xls will do
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 10:18
so for today, maybe lets look at mailgun/mailing technologies, authentication (with the salting shit), and splitting
we might find specific questions if we familiarise ourselves with those too
im also gonna do a bit of touching up on the last week proj
Rory
@rorysedgwick
Apr 13 2015 10:21
yeah sounds good

got a question
  1. can we get some example csv/xls sheets that are representative of what we could expect
  1. are they all of the same format (headers, ordering etc)
2.*
potentially not too important depending on how we display them, but good to know regardless
David Beech
@beechware
Apr 13 2015 11:36
Am i right in thinking the reports come in xls format we then convert them into csv so we can then find a way to extract that data into a format we can stick into a human readable report
?
James Griffiths
@MIJOTHY
Apr 13 2015 11:37
the reports come in csv or xls
then we'll probably extract it to json or somesuch, then present it to the client either by making it into another spreadsheet or otherwise
but depending on how uniform the reports are, we might not need the middle step
but im guessing we'll need to store them somehow, idk

I think It would be good to get our questions ready for copy and pasting so we can get an email off to her before EOB. @/all

I think the hackpad is looking pretty good
I don’t think the questions need to be too exact as I doubt she’ll be answering today, more that she knows what kind of things we’d like to talk about when she comes in tomorrow
