Heya folks, there is an interesting grant open in the AU atm. Could be entirely off topic but it involves the measurement of data value with the assumption that using something like block chain would be good in the mix. It is a pretty good amount of funding, 100k for investigation then a further 1M over 12 months if things progress. Details on the challenge are here: https://www.business.gov.au/Assistance/Business-Research-and-Innovation-Initiative/Tracking-the-effect-and-value-of-information-products
I originally was thinking that such a grant would fund CKAN 3.0 with the underlying improvements supporting value measurement, but the requirement is more granular and, i guess, needs to be more on the transnational passing through of information.

So, maybe not a CKAN thing really... block chain or (data packaging + block chain) perhaps...
If you think of an information artefact in terms of an IoT device that is sometimes on or off network. Or, a garmin watch that tracks stuff and then syncs with something else when it can ;) In such a case the artefact could self register and send its data when on network. Or, be identified and interrogated when discovered in the wild.
If folks think there is something here that would overlap with data packaging then we'd have 19 days to put in a submission, which I can do via my company. We'd have a pretty strong case if there was a tie in with CKAN as we'd be able to get endorsements from a wide range or people. This is just one of five challenges that have been specified, so if you're interested then the list with details on each can be found here: https://www.business.gov.au/assistance/business-research-and-innovation-initiative

typo = 1M over 18 months is correct :)
eeps - more typos! transnational = transactional
