this is the place to ask a forge question, right?
Krzysztof Cieślak
@Krzysztof-Cieslak
right
Ghost
@ghost~57f7596ad73408ce4f2c7915
so I was demo-ing forge with ionide in vscode yesterday, and we were talking about the move file up/down
and we were wondering if it would be possible to get a list of your fs files to say "it should be above this file"
or if that is possible already
am i making sense?
Krzysztof Cieślak
@Krzysztof-Cieslak
it would be essentially automatic ordering, right?
I think OCaml has such tool, so in theory it should be possible.... but I think it's rather difficult to implement well
Ghost
@ghost~57f7596ad73408ce4f2c7915
automatic is even a step further i think
sort of show the order they are in, in your fsproj file and say "put it above domain.fs" (as example)
Krzysztof Cieślak
@Krzysztof-Cieslak
Oh yes, it's possible right now in Forge. When you do forge add file you can specify above or below what file you want to put file. I just haven't come up with good UX for Ionide for it so it's not supported there
Ghost
@ghost~57f7596ad73408ce4f2c7915
oh, cool! thx :)

I just updated to Forge 1.2.0 with scoop and when I try to do something I get an error. Not sure what i'm doing wrong :)

I don't think "new scaffold" is working :/
I upgraded ionide and try to test the new integration, but it didnt work,
so I downloaded the release 1.3.0 and tried it and it's not downloading project scaffold either
I merged the upstream master into my master, build project, tested and that does download project scaffold

i'll try fixing it during lunch break
have a pretty good idea why it is not working
just don't know yet how to fix :)
and i'm really sorry ...
Krzysztof Cieślak
@Krzysztof-Cieslak
It's working

good idea to add fsi file as template?

Hello. Someone suggested moving from the yeoman generator to Forge, so giving it a spin. Noticed that installation instructions for build from source in the README.md reference copying files from the bin directory, but after building, it seems that there are some critical files, such as forge.sh in the temp directory. Should it be temp directory instead? Also, what are your thoughts on having installation steps added to the build for Linux?
Krzysztof Cieślak
@Krzysztof-Cieslak
Sounds good, I'm not really using Linux so feel free to PR any improvements to the process
puffybsd
@puffybsd
OK, thanks. Will take some research to come up with the "right" way for deploying/installing on Linux, but will look into a simple approach for copying the build output for the README.md.

@puffybsd: Looks cool, but I'm pretty sure it breaks Foundation logo license

ah, no problem. just fan art.

I've added some installation steps to the README.md. Provides a little more detail for setting up a symlink to the forge.sh script.

Instructions could be a temporary step until something more automated can be added. Still researching into mono/dotnet app conventions on Linux. Looks like mono and the fsharp project use Autotools. mono app deployment. Another option for Arch Linux users is the AUR (a community package repository for Arch that can pull from github and other repositories).

Hi guys. I am trying to use Forge to generate a new command line app targeting only .net framework 4.6. Is it possible to specify that in "forge new project" command? Otherwise it seems to pull down a whole bunch of unneeded packages.

Can I install Forge via choco?
