Hello All -- We are busy reviewing your applications, but I wanted to take the time to extend to your our sincerest thanks.
Thank you for all of your contributions, thank you for your dedication to open science, thank you for helping each other along on the journey.
We are so glad that you found us and hope that you have had a good experience with Outreachy and with Galaxy. Whatever the outcome of the application selection process, we are so very grateful for the relationships that we've seen created here. Feel free to keep chatting here or continue to network outside of this Gitter space.
Again, thank you so very much for this special time and all of your awesome contributions. Good Luck in all future endeavors, and stay well!
Hi all, as you are all aware, three interns have been selected to work with Galaxy as part of the December-March cohort. Three is one more than we had ever hoped for (the generosity of Outreachy enabled us to add a third person), but it is nowhere close to everyone we would have liked to have onboard. We knew from the start that we wouldn’t be able to select everyone, but it was still a hard reality when we had to make decisions.
Last month we encouraged you to collaborate with each other, and you really embraced that ideal. Thank you for supporting each other, and for all your work in the Galaxy ecosystem. It has been a pleasure to work with all of you. And thank you for your patience while we figured out how to navigate Outreachy! This was our first time and sometimes that was painfully obvious.
For those of you who weren’t selected, I encourage you to stay involved with open source and open science. Galaxy and communities like it, are a great way to make a difference in the world, and to build your network and your name recognition. I also strongly encourage you to apply to be a part of future Outreachy cohorts.
Hoping to see you online,
Dave C, on behalf of the Galaxy team.
