@NickSto
  • well there's one difference: each platform has an id key, since that might be useful and it seemed like an unobtrusive change

but I can take it out if it's troublesome

it's so much extra overhead, even if it is the standard way to share microdata. grr. everything now requires an entire html parser to get at what's essentially an api
Helena Rasche
@hexylena:matrix.org
[m]
Totes get it for the SEO
Just wish there was a way to get both
Or that the web hadn't developed like this lol
I wish for a world where we could just say accept content type application/JSON and get back the API
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
I know, I was like "maybe we can just point to it in a <script> tag!" but alas google says no

Or text and get back html

Are you doing this from python or ruby, btw?

Oh well, peanut butter, as they say in the Netherlands
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
I was going to say, beautifulsoup makes this fairly trivial
(but it's one more dependency, if you aren't already using it)
It's still 'messy', though, totally.
Helena Rasche
@hexylena:matrix.org
[m]
I'll get over it, just being whiny
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
Hah, no worries, I was just going to say you're on your own in ruby land, but python seems okay-ish :)

@NickSto: Another fun one; the jobs links are wrong
I'm looking at it now, but on the live site (and a locally built one) when you click on the hopkins job you get NEB, etc.
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
Ahh. I think it might actually be this: https://github.com/galaxyproject/galaxy-hub/pull/808/files
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
Ohh, oops, I guess there was a reason not to reverse that in-place!
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
Yep.
Jennifer Hillman-Jackson
@jennaj
All the FAQ links under https://galaxyproject.org/support/ report as missing. Tried adding in an "index.md" and that didn't fix it. This is a known right?
Was Ok earlier today...
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
I'm seeing everything 404
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
Yeah, that doesn't look good. I don't see the error (yet), but something was weird with the last build for galaxyproject/galaxy-hub@c61b2de
I'm going to kick it.
Jennifer Hillman-Jackson
@jennaj
I don't even see the directories under src -- if that is even where stuff still is
I have a backup -- so don't worry about me. I can send the user was trying to help a link to that instead. WAY too much to type out fresh
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
I will confess I didn't try building before I merged that commit
Jennifer Hillman-Jackson
@jennaj
Bad Nick! ha
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
But it didn't seem like anything that could possibly break the site
Just some content edits
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
I kicked jenkins already to see if it was a fluke; building locally too.
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
ugh
local build failed
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
So... I need to get that testing branch merged in and we need to wait for tests to pass for merging ;)
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
Hey that sounds great
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
You on the fix? I see the same local build fail.
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
Yeah I'm on it
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
k
I am a bit surprised the build failure didn't prevent the upload though; that's another thing to follow up on.
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
Okay, got the build working and merged the fix.
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
Looking through jenkins log, the commands were run with -xe, which should have bailed given the first failure, but I'm wondering if make+docker are masking the exit code. Something to dig through tomorrow.
Ah-ha. Yep:

Done in 53.46s.

@NickSto
ugh that's annoying
dannon
@dannon:matrix.org
[m]
It's not docker or the make, it's actually the gridsome build step that doesn't return a failing error code. If yarn build returned an appropriate error code on fail, this couldn't happen.
Anyway, that's a problem for tomorrow.
@jennaj: It's back up and should be fine now; got the thing you wanted to link?
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
Oh hey yeah, looks like that was on the todo list for the build wrapper!
Nick Stoler
@NickSto
Okay I've drafted a fix: galaxyproject/galaxy-hub#838
