    Hi All, created the GalaxyWG calendar. That should be publicly readable. I think I have given edit / share access to most people on the wg-leads mailing list. If you want edit access, please let me or your WG lead(s) know.
    By the way, there are also GalaxyEvents and GalaxyOtherEvents Google Calendars for Galaxy related events, and for other events of interest. Let me know if you want edit access to those as well.

    Hi All, the GalaxyWG calendar is now publicly readable as well.
    And you are now officially encouraged to migrate any WG-specific calendars to the shared one. Creating a calendar for each working group is no longer requested.

    Thanks for setting that up. It'll definitely make it easier to coordinate.

    Shouldn't we keep our separate calendars in addition to the big common one (which is definitely a good idea) ? Don't want to have notifications for irrelevant events
    dannon
    @dannon:matrix.org
    [m]
    You should only get notifications for events you're on the member list for, right?
    Not that any of these meetings are 'closed' I don't think -- but I don't get notifications for the other stuff on GalaxyInternal for example, unless I'm actually on the invite list.
    Marius
    @mvdbeek:matrix.org
    [m]
    I don't use that at all, I just mark the calendars I want notifications from
    dannon
    @dannon:matrix.org
    [m]
    Ahhh, interesting, okay.

    @tnabtaf:matrix.org

    Marius: Hmm. I am not (yet) going to say that you should drop the WG specific calendars. But if we can make one calendar work, then I think we should consider doing that.
    Marius
    @mvdbeek:matrix.org
    [m]
    Yeah, that's my next question, can I publish existing calendars to this one or do I need to create another event ?
    Sorry, those are all noob questions, if you've ever seen me mix up day, week and month when scheduling you can imagine my struggle 😆

    Beatriz Serrano-Solano: Do you have a Google Calendar extension that does what Marius wants?
    dannon
    @dannon:matrix.org
    [m]
    All I did for the UI/UX meeting was change which calendar it was on, and it changed the series. That's a mess if it's individual events though :/
    Marius
    @mvdbeek:matrix.org
    [m]
    There's a copy to action, which seems to work
    Beatriz Serrano-Solano
    @beatrizserrano:matrix.org
    [m]
    I do what dannon says to move events, but you can also copy... and when you have the same event in several calendars the Firefox extension "Toggle" helps a lot to keep things tidy (recommendation by Helena Rasche)
    dannon
    @dannon:matrix.org
    [m]
    An issue with copying is that then you end up with a calendar that looks like this:
    1 reply
    With overlapping duplicates everywhere.
    Marius
    @mvdbeek:matrix.org
    [m]
    That's ok, I've just kept the notifications for the original calendar but only display the WG one
    meh ... that only looks good because a lot of WG meetings are still missing
    Beatriz Serrano-Solano
    @beatrizserrano:matrix.org
    [m]
    that's what happens when the same event is in the green and red calendar
    so from the new WG calendar, I will only copy into my calendar the ones that are interesting for me

    What happens to the old urls when you move a calendar ?
    tnabtaf
    @tnabtaf:matrix.org
    [m]
    Marius: Move == Rename?
    Marius
    @mvdbeek:matrix.org
    [m]
    No, when you change the calendar an event is on. I guess the URLs stay, but point at an empty calendar. Which is ok I guess, we haven't circulated the links widely, I think

    I somewhat disagree with @nekrut that the vision needs to be simplified significantly. I like the vision, I think it may not be possible to accomplish everything in 18-24 months, but I think we should generally be developing toward that decentralized, despecialized, democratized goal of Galaxy services.
    The specific design and implementation of course is a big thing to discuss and continually refine.

    Hi All, and speaking of better communication between the groups, the Training, Outreach Support WG (spelled GOATS - no really, we can explain) is meeting on Monday at 16:00 Central EU, 10am Eastern US, 7am Pacific US.

    If you have anything to share, or that you would like us to work on, then please add it to the agenda, or join us on Monday.

    If we are going to have another vision meeting on Thursday (which I think is what was said ?) we should put it into GalaxyWG calendar

    @channel: the deadline for WGs to provide feedback on our two year plan has passed earlier this week. The PIs will start appearing in the WGs weekly meetings to get the idea on what the plan for each WG is. The original goals were:
    1. Assess if the goals for GCC are reasonable. Is anything needs to be scaled down or expanded?
    2. Identify components that are within this WG's expertise and which would require collaboration with other WGs
    3. Create a roadmap for the next two tertiles ([Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb] & [Mar, Apr, May, June]) that outlines steps necessary for implementing these components.
    4. Communicate this to PIs (you can do this in any form such as inviting us to relevant meetings). However, whatever this form is the roadmap needs to be easily accessible.
    5. This needs to be wrapped up by Nov 15. By this date WGs and PIs need to be in sync.
