JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
no
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
with the contact particle with the mail icon being on a different row it is at the mercy of the particles above it.
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
no they are each on a "row" in the Gantry Layout so they are each in a <div class=g-grid" of their own
Once I've positioned mail where I want it I want to collaps the div it sources from. I can't get an ID on that div or anything useful above it to target it.
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
one sec, let me explain what I see.
the executive pic particle and the map particle are on the same row which has 3 positions. The executive pic is in row1 position1, there is a spacer present at row1 position2, and the map is at row1 position3.
The second row has 2 positions.
row2 position1 is a spacer particle and the contact particle is on row2 position2
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
correct
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
with that in mind the executive pic particle is pushing down, extending the height of row1 pushing down row2
since the contact particle is in row 2 this creates a problem
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
Idk what you mean by "pushing". each Row in the Layout has it's own g-grid <div>
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
by pushing I mean each row has it's own height
each row has it's own grid
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
Yes. each has it's own "space"
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
so... the particles inside it dictate the height
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
and so once I've moved the mail link visually
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
if one particle is taller than the rest that is the height the row will have
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
the space of the particle is still taking up the blank empty row there
I wanted to hide/collapse this [now empty visually] row
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
bottom line is you really can't
I have a suggestion for you though
you are using Joomla correct?
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
sure
yes
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
what I would suggest you do is to make the positions "module positions" and use the Gantry 5 Particle modules and assign the contact info particle to the same module position as the map and order them so the map comes first then add a class to each module so that you can add padding and margins
most Gantry 5 particles also have the "tag attributes" field where you can manually add the style you want so you could put the padding and margin there.
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
so put the two Particles in one module position and put that one module postion on the one row next to the Exec image..
That's the other thing that thwarted me !
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
they also usually have a place to add css classes
yes :point_up: October 3, 2019 8:59 AM
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
I tried to sneak in a div ID through the Attributes on the Section but it rejects the value ID
I'll have to give that a shot
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
are you using joomla modules or are these gantry 5 particles you are using?
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
I'm knee deep in smth else at the moment but I'll get a round tuit
Particles
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
you may also want to try removing the "spacer" particles from the layout
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
need them for positioning
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
you can always use css classes with media queries to get the positioning you are after instead of using the spacers.
@JoelAzaria good luck to you. I hope I've been helpful.
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
Thanks, yes.

Henny Smafter
@hennysmafter
@JoelAzaria Is the problem solved? if not can you use jQuery for targetting?
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
Hey now @hennysmafter I haven't gotten back to it yet and the look of the page is now in flux again so we'll see.
I do not know my way around jquery enough to do that. Either way, appreciate the help, will revisit if/when it's "a thing" again.
Henny Smafter
@hennysmafter
Alright no problem. Hit me up when ready and I help you out with the required code.

@masterchess
Ho all, where i read document about gantry and joomla 4 old
Hi...
JoelAzaria
@JoelAzaria
ty @hennysmafter :smiley:
Henny Smafter
@hennysmafter
@masterchess Do you want the documentation for Gantry 4 and Joomla
Or Gantry 5 and Joomla 4?
Rockettheme also did some talks about the subject which you can find here: https://rockettheme.com/blog/joomla/277-looking-forward-to-joomla-4-and-beyond
masterchess
@masterchess
@hennysmafter thx, i wont doc for gantry 5 to install in new joomla 4
Henny Smafter
@hennysmafter

@masterchess those docs are not yet available as far as I know. So far Gantry is not yet completely ready for the new Joomla release. I could be wrong with that statement though and looking forward to hear what @mahagr has to say about it. I just read this post thought: gantry/gantry5#2122

This post shows some light about it.

Joomla 4 is also not yet ready for the public but I think you want to see if your extenstion/templates work with G5 + J4. To be honest I would like to see that for myself as well.
