@Wicko-Design I tried IE Edge on your site and it looks ok to me (same as other browsers)... just thought I'd point out though that IE11 is no longer supported... I don't know whether your were using IE edge or 11 Just thought it worth mentioning

Hello, I have a question regarding the highlighted underline on the menu items within the navigation bar. No matter what menu item I select and load the designated page, the highlighted underline remains under the "Home" menu item. How might I fix this so it underlines the menu item corresponding to the page that I'm on?
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
@SamS198 It sounds like you are using Page Anchors. If it actually loads a different page, that menu item will be highlighted/underlined. If you are using menu items that are page anchors for items on the same page then you it is still considered the "home" page so that menu item will be highlighted.
SamS198
@SamS198
@N8Solutions Thanks for the prompt reply. I understand. Would you know what area of either my CMS(Joomla) or Gantry5 that I should look into to change settings regarding Page Anchors?
SamS198
@SamS198
Also one other question. Unfortunately when I started doing work on my website, I used the G5_Helium template and changed the original css etc. in its directory.
When I copy the template G5_Helium and name the duplicate and then set my menu items to the newly named template, the template is not the same. It reverts back to particles I removed and customized, different colour scheme etc.
I can't seem to find how to duplicate the original G5_Helium and use it as my main. The reason I am doing this is because when I update Gantry5 all the work I did is reset because my template is the Gantry5 Helium default. Does anyone know how to duplicate a template correctly with the original directory carrying over?

@N8Solutions
@SamS198 Just got home from work. To my knowledge, it is not possible to do what you want to do with highlighting menu items that are Page Anchors.
About customizing your template, you need to add a custom.scss file and put all your custom styling there.

@N8Solutions Sorry to bother you with this further, thanks for the reply.
I think I may have explained it wrong. I made a video( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMVcJJTdfxs ) comparing the Gantry5 Helium Demo and my version at the moment. On my version the Home menu item is constantly underlined where as I would prefer it to be like the demo version if that is possible. You can see when I click on the "Benefits" menu item at 0:29 of the video, once it loads the Benefits page, the Benefits menu item is not underlined, instead it remains under the Home menu item.
I think I'm having an issue with the Home menu item being the only page anchor, is that correct? Maybe I misunderstood you're statement but hopefully I explained it clearer with the video.

Regarding the custom.css:
Ok I understand, thanks. I will try to find all the changes I made as it was a while ago, foolish move on my part to not read up enough before I started changing the css in the root folders.

@yellowwebmonkey
@SamS198 , I think you will have to use jQuery to change the active menu item for anchors
SamS198
@SamS198
@yellowwebmonkey Great, thanks! I'll have a look into it.
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions

@SamS198 I understood you correctly and you explained things just fine.
Page Anchors are links on a page/article inside a menu item.
By default, if you create a menu item that points to a Page Anchor, in Joomla it is a system link >> URL menu item type which links to a point on the page internally. It is not an actual menu item that will cause the CMS to change pages. If you don't change pages then you haven't actually changed the active menu item regardless of the fact that you have created menu items that link to page anchors inside the current active menu item.

So... as @yellowwebmonkey pointed out, you could try and do this using jQuery. I've never had a need to do it so I'm unable to tell you how. The ability to do this is also not a core feature of Gantry 5, Joomla, or WordPress.

I hope this explanation helps you understand better why this is working the way it is. Good Luck with your project!

SamS198
@SamS198
@N8Solutions Thank you very much for the information. I completely understand now. I will start working on that so with jQuery. Appreciate the help very much!

Hello Gantry!

Hi Team,

I am developed newspaper theme in wordpress
my Question is can we highlight different categories(movie news, politics, etc..)with different colors?

Phantaine
@Phantaine_twitter
Given a gantry 5 Grav theme from RocketTheme.. is there a way to tell what all the available styles are? What they're called, so I can appropriately style particle content and such?
Phantaine
@Phantaine_twitter
Another question.. when I create a new outline and inherit everything from the Base Outline, the sections are in a different order on the new outline. Any idea what would cause that?
Seems like a bug.
Michael Klein
@Omegatcu
Hey Guys, is it possible to have an HTML Override for a specific Outline?
So have Version A Blog-List in "Default" and Version B Blog-List in "Default-2"
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions

@Omegatcu Yes, you can preface the custom styling to only effect a specific outline like this.

.outline-XX { /* Custom Styling Here */ }

Where XX = the Outline ID#.
You can find the id number of the Outline you want to targeton the Outlines page. It will be to the right of the name of the outline as you can see in the picture.

Thank you but thats CSS - I mean the HTML Overrides

@N8Solutions

I want to have a different html layout for a specific outline
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
Ahh, OK, I think I understand now.
Michael Klein
@Omegatcu
I did write a new Layout file for a specific outline but I also need to change some of the HTML for posts and Blog-List and I'm not sure if that is possible...
I didn't find anything in the docs so I'm not sure if that is even possible
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
That's a very interesting question! That may be more of Joomla question than a Gantry question. You might be able to target it using the menu instead of targeting the Outline.
@Omegatcu I know in Joomla you can create custom html overrides. You could also "duplicate & rename" the blog.php & blog.item.php, customize those, then choose those for the Blog Layout.
Michael Klein
@Omegatcu
thats a good idea
yeah i will try that - thank you
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
The recent joomlashack online conference had a speaker that did something similar for Joomla Tags so he could better organize & customize the look of items using J2Store.

i was so focused on the template because its in the template files

:point_up: November 15, 2019 6:53 PM @MinallWch You can use the built-in browser inspection tools to see the code.
However, what you are referring to will require you to create a particle override to remove that functionality.
I would suggest that instead of creating a particle override, you simply modify the particle and rename it so you can have that functionality elsewhere in case you may need it.

Here is a link to the Gantry documentation for overriding a Gantry Particle
http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/tutorials/overriding-particle-settings

Here is a link on copying a Gantry Particle to another theme. You may need this in case you decide to really modify the functionality of the particle. Instead of "copying" the particle to another theme. You would use this same information to "duplicate" this in to the same theme with different functionality.
http://docs.gantry.org/gantry5/tutorials/copying-particles

:point_up: November 14, 2019 5:31 PM @josecont In order to figure out your problem you need to remove the styling from your custom.scss file and parts of the styling back in to the file bit by bit until you find what is broken. I would start with the most recent changes you have made to your theme.
:point_up: November 16, 2019 4:56 PM @KOTESHWARRAOM_twitter this seems more like a WordPress question as the styling and showing of categories would be handled by the CMS.
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
:point_up: November 18, 2019 4:47 AM @Phantaine_twitter Since the theme you are working with is a paid theme from Rocket Theme you will need to open a ticket with them in the support forum. This chat is only for the free Hydrogen & Helium themes and issues related specifically to the Gantry 5 Framework.
