I use Joomla, and with Joomla you can set the menu items to be visible to the Public, Guest, or Registered groups so they only see the menu items that you want them to see.
So with Joomla, you would simply combine the menu's and set the "user menu" to be for the "registered" group so only logged in users would see those menu items.

@sabersaberi2
I use joomla too, but in the other state , i must have two menu because one menu is in the right of my template and other in the left of my template. (forget usermenu example)
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
On a mobile it doesn't matter, there won't be a left and a right side, it will be stacked.
by the way, you should read the latest news from Google about Mobile First Indexing.

@sabersaberi2
@N8Solutions thank you Michael but i still need that.
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
@sabersaberi2 bottom line is, it's not possible to have 2 hamburger menu's from Gantry. You might be able to install a 3rd party menu but that has the potential for creating conflicts.
Alexis Priddy
@yellowwebmonkey
why not have one hamburger and load the 2nd menu in a module in the offcanvas position?
sabersaberi2
@sabersaberi2
is it possible? i check two menu particle as a Mobile target but load only one of that @yellowwebmonkey
Alexis Priddy
@yellowwebmonkey
don't use menu particle. If on Joomla, go to module manager and use menu module in offcanvas position (might have to check name or make new position depending on the template)

Hi! I am new here. I have just installed Gantry5 on my brandnew Joomla Website, which therefore is not quirky.
In the backend nothing will work like in the very good explanation / documentation, which is provided on the gantry5 website. I have installed helium template for experimental purpose. If I open Layout, nothing is in there, no grid or block. I can click on "load" but nothing happens. I made sure, that all the parts of gantry are activated. - Wahta can I do next?
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
@Clemens-XS_gitlab Since you installed Gantry 5 and the Helium template on a fresh install of Joomla you do not have any Demo content so you will need to add the content yourself. If you would like to have the demo content then you need to delete your installation of Joomla and reinstall using the Gantry 5 Rocket Launcher with the Helium template. Doing that will provide you with the demo content and a working basis to get your new site up and running.

Ohhhh thank you so much! May be that I have not understood the docu well enough, to see that. I will try again.
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
@Clemens-XS_gitlab You're welcome!
Here's the link for the Gantry 5 downloads
http://gantry.org/downloads#joomla
Just select the "Helium Rocket Launcher" from that page, upload it to your directory, unzip it, and install Joomla like you normally would.

Not strictly a Gantry 5 matter but, it seems that Microsoft is due to pull the plug on supporting PHP in Windows. MS will not be supporting version 8.0 (due in November).
It may seem like jumping the gun but I'm guessing that from then on I shall need to run a Linux machine in order to develop sites locally.
Has anyone made this transition already? Any advice on a Linux OS and Web Server set up would be greatly appreciated. I currently use Windows 10 and Laragon (after XAMPP went south one too many times)

Joomlead provides two extra Off Canvas Gantry5 Particles for exactly this type of situation. One can even be used to replace the generic Off Canvas gantry Particle. So in fact you could run 3.

Both Joomlead particles (Off Canvas and Canvas Menu) run using their UIKIT3 Atom, making it easy to run a Left and Right Off Canvas with no conflict.
'JL Menu Canvas' can act as a full replacement of the Helium/Hydrogen and calls in your Menu or can be used alongside the Standard Gantry 5.
The 'JL Off Canvas' particle is more of a secondary support off canvas that allows Content, a basic menu system and Social Media links
Both particles have the added bonus of allowing you to place the menu opener inside a layout position and define breakpoints, which frankly is a godsend!

They are available for WP, Joomla and Grav

These are the Joomla links so you can see them in action, note that the examples run multiple instances:

OffCanvas Content: http://demo.joomlead.com/particles/index.php/particles/offcanvas-content

Menu canvas: http://demo.joomlead.com/particles/index.php/particles/menu-canvas

dmleeman
@dmleeman
@N8Solutions These also work very well using the DSC customisation, so you can create an off Canvas Menu toggle in various module positions using the module suffixes to define their visibility on various devices with precision. Not simply hiding them using CSS visibility selectors.

I am not sure if anyone has experienced the same problem I am currently going through. Eevertime I click on my homepage, I get redirected to different pages on my website randomly and then sometimes take me to homepage. Please what can I do to resolve this issue?
Michael Koontz
@N8Solutions
@martfame_gitlab Never experienced that before but it sounds more like a CMS issue than a Gantry 5 issue.
Matias Griese
@mahagr
i've never seen anything like that either

@martfame_gitlab
@mahagr @N8Solutions thank you for your support guys -- I have managed to resolve the issue -- I disabled the (Search Engine Friendly) SEF cache file so that system can retreive the SEF cache directly from the database -- this SEF is under SEO general settings in easysocial --- Many thanks again for your ideas and swift response

Can I move gantry data from one domain to another with minimal issues, or are there places it references the domain name itself? We've stood up a subdomain for testing purposes with grav and gantry5, just wanting to verify I can move everything over when we change the layout
dmleeman
@dmleeman

@The_Tarkol_twitter

I cannot speak for Grav, but if you are using Joomla and there are no absolute urls in the code you can move the site from abc.com to xyz.com with minimal issues.
The point is absolute urls, so some SEF components may store these in the database, maybe some google structured data, some may have been manually added inside certain particles or modules.
Backup a version of the source domain and install a copy onto XAMPP and check how it behaves. I'm no expert in WP but from what I see this 'CMS' has the greatest issues with being moved.

Grav, no idea, but given the team behind it, I would think that absolute urls are unlikely.

With Joomla, at least you have the wind behind you when performing this sort of action, but a middle step platform to test the process is the only real world way you have of testing this.
Gantry5 is a template manager with database entries. Out of the box it has no absolute urls, so it won't be a hindrance in particular and will likely behave the same way as the CMS with which it is integrated.

Hello community, Would you please assist me in this. I am using Gantry framework with a theme from Rockettheme for my website. All pages rendered with a default <title> tag in the header with this format "Post title - Site Name". I want to remove this so that I can add the title manually in the Page Settings in Gantry. How Can I remove it?
dmleeman
@dmleeman
@alaahariri which CMS is it, Joomla or WP?
alaahariri
@alaahariri
@dmleeman It is WordPress. I have been trying for hours with no luck :( I am Ok with CSS and JS but not PHP or Twig. Appreciate your support.
dmleeman
@dmleeman
@alaahariri Sorry, I could have helped if it was Joomla bu just don't know WP well enough to help out. There are of course many WP G5 users here so I'm sure an answer will arrive soon.

hi all. very excited to start create a theme in gantry for client. In a new hydrogen theme I just copied /layouts/home.yaml to as /custom/layouts/testing.yaml but I do not see it appear. Anyone any ideas?

@papoola
I think I understood layouts better, they show up in my Layout Manager > Load > Presets. Other question I have, I need to implement a Import CSV functionality, and I would like to use Gantry for input fields. I am thinking about creating an Atom and need to find a way to add a button + callback to it somehow unless you have a better idea ?
Matias Griese
@mahagr
yes, they are presets
on csv import, where would you like to do it?
(i've always wanted to have import and export in gantry, but never had time to do that)

Hi all. I've jst had this 500 fatal error on my Joomla/Gantry/Helium site: Cache path not defined for compiled file (/home/tasmg/public_html/TMR/media/gantry5/engines/nucleus/particles/analytics.yaml). I was editing my custom.scss file at the time it happened and have no idea what happened or why. Any thoughts?
dmleeman
@dmleeman
@Kramster49_twitter Just a shot in the dark but are you using debug version of analytics js on a site in production mode? It sounds like the compiler is having a problem with the Analytics atom. You mention that you were working on the custom.css and wondered if you had then recompiled after making the css changes.
Try disabling the Analytics atom temporarily, clear all caches and then recompile the site.

BUG REPORT: Not being able to override outline from the Global Page Settings. Using Gantry 5 with Wordpress.
Mark Watson
@Kramster49_twitter
@dmleeman Interestingly I wasn't using the analytics atom in any shape or form. I had saved the custom.scss but never got the chance to compile it. I cme to the conclusion that it was some weird corruption so I nuked the site and reloaded form the previous day's backup. I only lost an hour's work which is much less than I had already spent trying to troubleshoot. That fixed it! Thank you for your input.

Using Hydrogen theme with Gantry 5 in Grav, how can one make the top level menu not link to any page, so that only the children items are active links? This seems to be a perfectly normal thing to do but I am stumped as to the technique.
