Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
Anyways.. Thanks for the help..
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
No problem. Thank you for your contributions!
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
@Splaktar I was thinking whether we could add a feature for the people to select a theme and font of their own choice for their chapter..
We can use scss to do that..
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
That's possible in the config already. We can document and streamline it if we want. Sounds like something for next release after we get the footer stuff in
Feel free to open an issue
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
Ok.. And as for the footer stuff, what exactly do we need to do in that?
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
We need to have a reusable footer component across boomerang, firefly, Hub
I linked one of those in the issue
Should be pretty straight forward
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
Ok.. I have my exams this week. After that I will work on it.. :smile:
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
OK, no problem
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
In case you haven’t seen, I added a Wiki guide for hosting your chapter website on GitHub Pages: https://github.com/gdg-x/boomerang/wiki/Host-your-chapter-website-on-GitHub-in-15-minutes
We ran through it at the GDG NA Summit in under an hour
Including helping people with tooling issues, etc.

@tasomaniac
Nice. When we edit/add wiki pages, people don't get notified, right.
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS

I have been using boomerang in our chapter:
http://www.gdgallahabad.in/#!/about

But the description isn't shown..

can you please check..
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
OK will try to check this evening when I am near a computer
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
@SaptakS it’s due to your API key configuration for G+
// API callback
angular.callbacks._6({
"error": {
"errors": [
{
"domain": "usageLimits",
"reason": "ipRefererBlocked",
"message": "There is a per-IP or per-Referer restriction configured on your API key and the request does not match these restrictions. Please use the Google Developers Console to update your API key configuration if request from this IP or referer should be allowed.",
"extendedHelp": "https://console.developers.google.com"
}
],
"code": 403,
"message": "There is a per-IP or per-Referer restriction configured on your API key and the request does not match these restrictions. Please use the Google Developers Console to update your API key configuration if request from this IP or referer should be allowed."
}
}
);
Make sure that you have the Google+ API turned on for your project
also make sure that the Referrers for your site are setup correctly (empty is the easiest way to test)
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
ok.. thanks.. i will look into it..
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
I didn't really understand the solution..
Can someone please help?
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
You need to follow the API key instructions in the Readme
Linked just above. What is your specific question?
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
The thing is the details from Google+ page aren't shown in the website..
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
It's configured in the API manager
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
But it was working previously with the same settings and suddenly it stopped working.
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
Is the Google+ API still enabled for your project?
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
Yes..
Like I said, no changes made.
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
Yes, it was working because of free quota but you ran out
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
Ok.. So, solution?
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
So you need to enable a valid API key
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
Does this involve buying API access?
which isn't free?
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
Try creating a new api key, closely following the configuration instructions
No, nothing is paid
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
Ok..
I will check it and get back to u if I find some problem.
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
OK, feel free to post a screenshot with your question if something isn't clear
Saptak Sengupta
@SaptakS
ok..
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
Build fixed. Protractor and some other things were out of date and not building.
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
I updated milestones for boomerang. Just need the footer and we can mark 2.2.0 complete. Added an issue to convert the app to a PWA for 3.0.0.
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
Just marked the https://github.com/gdg-x/boomerang-gae project Deprecated as using boomerang with GitHub Pages and Firebase Hosting are preferred to GAE in most cases.
Michael Prentice
@Splaktar
There is a nice PR to upgrade Boomerang to the latest Angular AND add some Meetup.com API integration. I’ll be taking a look at that and plan to push out a new Boomerang release based on that later this fall.
