DevFest season officially announced. Hopefully the new hub deployment can get done this weekend so that DevFest events show up on Firefly

Is Google implementing their own site?
If yes, thank you for the collaboration :-/

They did add a DevFest landing / about page with some nice photos. There's a link to the DevFest event listing but it doesn't seem to go anywhere yet

No, we are not implementing our own site. As @Splaktar said, is just a landing page (I am adjusting for Material Design yet, hope later today is working) and we have a link to point to a list of events (now is just pointing to "#"). The plan is launch, with material design, the link poinitng to gdgroups.org were firefly lives now.

DevFest.Gdgroups.org will be the right link to use, even after new hub deployment
@aleborba it would be nice to mention the GDG app (Frisbee) in the about site. It's DevFest feature will activate on 9/1

@aleborba That really annoys me. Now, where we could need all hands you are working for the Google site. Firefly has been updated to material and could have some touch up AFAIK, so the same as you are doing.
This is happening event after event. Is it so difficult for Google to contribute to our projects?

@tasomaniac @Splaktar including the mention right now. :+1:
@friedger can you explain better? I think I didn't understand clearly. Is there a problem I update the landing page to material design? Google is not helping? (sorry about this questions, I need to understand better what is happen, I just arrived here)

I think his point was that he would have liked to have seen a pull request to add that DevFest information page to firefly rather than the devsite

Ow, I got it. So, the point is, we need a page for this internally for a while. For real? Is the same page from the last season, I change just the dates and insert the material.
I really wanna talk over Hangout to explain better what we are thinking from our side and you guys are thinking from the community side. There's a lot of plans I want to share with you, including the future of this landing page (I agree with you this is a page wich is better if is on firefly) and how I am able (from personal and Google's perspective) to contribute with all the community projects. :)

Yes, we should set up a hangout. Unfortunately I am not available to do that until mid-september and it will have to be on a weekend to make the time zones work (Pacific to Turkey)
Feel free to join or continue here in the chat

Please don't take it personal
In the past years, similar things happend
There were some talks/plans for weeks or months and then suddenly something happens without communication.
I liked this year that Adriana was actively involved in our effort
*This year, I liked that Adriana ...

As Splankar said, it is sad that there is not one commit (at least as I can remember) from a person while being employed by Google. What I heard due to Google's policies...
Alê Borba
@aleborba
Aug 26 2015 18:34
I know it's not personal. :)
I am officially in charge of this things now, helping Adriana. We really believe and know we have more commitment from our side and we are working hard to change this in a good and fast way :)
about code commits... unfortunately it's true. We have some policies which made this a hard thing to do. :(

We should just get all of the GDG team at Google a blanket approval for contributing to GDG-X ☺
