noob question - trying to upgrade but it looks like the fabfile paths are pointing to old(?) github links. What's the correct link to get_latest_release?

noob question - using filters can you delay execution of query. Essentially is it possible to popular filter data but wait for user input before running rest of the query.

@tpsreport replace EverythingMe with getredash. I will also update the script.
@irfansiddiqui you mean to define a filter, but wait for user's value for it before running the query?
@eschultze strange, but glad it's working now.

@arikfr yes, well in my case I have a large dataset and want to provide an easy way for users to select a particular item before running the query.
So we have time sheet data, and it will be great if user can select a particular employee and get their data
we can end up with a large dataset where most of it is not of use . I suppose I am trying to figure out a way to execute query with variables, providing values from a drop down just as filter does.

@irfansiddiqui you can use query parameters, see example here: http://demo.redash.io/queries/146/source?p_action=create it doesn't have a UI yet (coming soonish)
@irfansiddiqui but maybe a solution like this: http://demo.redash.io/queries/520#table can work for you in the meantime (try the links on each row)

@arikfr Second example will almost do what I am looking to do.
is there a way to run parameterized query but hide the source by default.
please ignore above comment; I was able to figure out my mistake. Now if I can figure out how to use filter with second example.

@irfansiddiqui you can apply a filter on the "index" query, but it will be a client side (meaning all the data will be queried). but if the list of employees isn't that large it wll be ok

We are looking at about 13K employees, hopefully that is not too many.

Okay this is working SELECT '<a href="http://redash.kbsforce.com/queries/3?p_payrollid=' || CAST(payrollid AS VARCHAR) || '" target="_brank">'|| CAST(payrollid AS VARCHAR) || '</a>' AS Employee,
MAX(punchtimestamp ) AS last_punch
FROM epunch
GROUP BY 1
ORDER BY 2 DESC
but I can't figure out where do I add filter option
Arik Fraimovich
@arikfr
Dec 09 2015 20:46
hmm... because I'm not sure how the filter will behave with a link (and it will probably break), add another column with whatever you want to filter on (payrollid?) and apply filter on it
you add it by changing name of column to have ::filter suffix
i.e. select ... payrollid as "employee::filter"...

got ot.
got it.
hmm filter worked but link disappeared.
Arik Fraimovich
@arikfr
Dec 09 2015 20:53
did you give them different names? (the column with the link and the one with the filter)
Irfan Siddiqui
@irfansiddiqui
Dec 09 2015 20:57
:) that was my mistake, now if there was a magical way to eliminate duplicate column but it is not that big of a deal. So it is in filter but not displayed as there is already a link for same value.

I have one more question if you have time, is there a way to apply filter on download dataset?
Arik Fraimovich
@arikfr
Dec 09 2015 21:05
if it's filtered with the "::filter" then -no. if it's filtered with a parameter, then yes.

Thank you that works.
I saw request for ldap support is this something that is on plate.
Arik Fraimovich

glad that it works
ldap - it's something that we will be happy to merge in if someone contributes, but currently there are no concrete plans

Dec 09 2015 21:41
is authentication modular? where ldap can be modeled on based on current google authentication?
Arik Fraimovich
@arikfr
Dec 09 2015 21:42
well, it can be improved, but it's quite easy to add another authentication provider using the google oauth example.
