Please bare with me till the time i insert one record into one datasource and retrieve that record. My questions might be very basic but please assist me.
I created a datasource with mySql as my database
is mySql is already running on my server as part of redash?
i am running below query
to create a new table
create table test.new_table (id integer, name varchar(10));
this is what I have Error running query: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

I got it, i am supposed to install mysql, it is not as part of redash
Arik Fraimovich
@arikfr
Mar 23 2016 16:54
no
redash only installs its own dependencies. the assumption is that you already got data sources

yeah my bad,
i inserted one record using command prompt
i can retrieve that record
but unable to insert record, is insertion possible from redash?
Arik Fraimovich
@arikfr
Mar 23 2016 16:56
it depends on the permission you give the user you use for redash

i gave root username
error is this Error running query: No data was returned.

@arikfr
Mar 23 2016 16:58
the message is misleading a bit. the query ran, it just returned no data. so it's not necessairly an error.

but data is not inserted
Arik Fraimovich
@arikfr
Mar 23 2016 17:00
that's strange
you insert and then run select and it returns only old data?

yes

Mar 23 2016 17:01
redash just executes the query you give it
try checking mysql's logs

you need to enable them.
I think you can do this in runtime, but I don't remember the specifics.

@just10minutes if you're creating a table, there won't be any data returned
create your table in the mysql command line, then query it from redash, redash is a dashboard, not a mysql query tool :)

@arikfr I seem to have found a problem where the auto refresh graphs are breaking. If I manually execute a query the graphs look great, then I leave the data to auto refresh and the graphs breaks. Looking in the logs, when I run it manually, it generates result id 439, the auto update the updates result 439, however if I try refresh the graph page the client is requesting result set 440? Not sure what bumps that up?
