Hi all. I am running 30 day trial of redash. How do I add a custom URL datasource?

@HenroRitchie in the hosted platform you can't. If it's a general purpose one, we can add it to our build and it will be available for everyone

Hi Arik. Unfortunately my bitnami redash trail expired (60min) on Friday so I was not able to get the custom URL as we discussed. I am no playing with the 30-day trial and I want to get the cloundant data as a datasource. I have also launched a AWS instance for the same purpose, but I am still waiting for the DNS to link. What would be the quickest way to get data into redash? I have it in CSV available at the moment.

@HenroRitchie you can load it to the postgres database redash uses on your aws instance. Another option is to convert it to the json format the URL datasource, store as gist and load into redash
A bit hacky but will work.

@arikfr Excuse the simple question, but where in url.py file is the json data formatted? From what I can see the json data returned is merely the read url stripped of all trailing spaces?

@HenroRitchie it expects the data to be already in this format: http://docs.redash.io/en/latest/dev/results_format.html

@arikfr Just to be sure I understand this. The url.py gets the data which must be formatted to look like the data source example. If the data is not in the format of the data source example, the custom url.py must format it accordingly before returning the json_data?
