@zachmullen
but if you want to load a model based on a different parameter name, say "collectionId", you'd use map={'collectionId': 'collection'}
Kacper Kowalik
@Xarthisius
yay it works
thanks!

@zachmullen
great! :D

I have http://localhost:8080/api/v1 hardcoded is there a var for it?
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
girder.api.rest.getApiUrl() is the method you'll want to use
Kacper Kowalik
@Xarthisius
thanks!

@Xarthisius
hello! @zachmullen any chance someone from girder dev team will be at SC15 ?
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
I'm sure Kitware has some folks going, not sure about anybody from the girder team, but let me ask the dev list and see
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
@Xarthisius so it looks like none of the main girder developers are attending the conference this year, but if you are interested in having some face-to-face discussion about girder, we can certainly simulate that pretty well with a Google hangout or skype call if you want :)

Hi, I have a basic question on searching: is it possible to use GET /resource/search to query item metadata, or can this only be done with GET /resource/mongo_search (for mongo assetstores)?
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
Hi @jmeakin , at this time the /resource/search endpoint simply does a text search, but we have a feature on our road map to allow metadata searching via that endpoint in the future. For now, the /resource/mongo_search endpoint should be able to achieve what you want, otherwise an alternative option would be to write your own small plugin to be able to search for metadata fields.

@matthewturk
Hi all. Has anyone seen a 411 error from addMetadataToItem?
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
We have seen 411's in the past, let me check if we have a workaround for that particular endpoint yet
Matthew Turk
@matthewturk
Thank you!
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
hm, sorry, I was thinking of a 414, 411 is for content-length missing
Matthew Turk
@matthewturk
Yeah -- sounds like it could be a proxy error on our end. We'll dig a bit. :) Thanks!
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
ah, ok. let us know if it end up being a girder-related issue :)
Matthew Turk
@matthewturk
Will do!

Hi @zachmullen, I'm trying to add the item preview plugin to Girder but having trouble getting Girder to run using neither Vagrant nor Docker. Is there a preferred method? Do either of these two methods work (I've had to modify both configs to even get them to run) or is the default method to use CLI manually?
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
Hi @hwrod , for doing plugin development I think the easiest thing to do is to follow the installation from source instructions. As for the docker and vagrant breakage, could you report those bugs on our issue tracker?
Harold Rodriguez
@hwrod
np
I'll surely be hitting you up next week regarding any hiccups I run into, if you don't mind.
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
great :) I'm excited for the new plugin
Harold Rodriguez
@hwrod
@zachmullen Just a heads up that I'm still working on the plugin, just got caught up on some other deadlines, but hang on tight :)
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
no worries, thanks for the update :)

@zachmullen
our CI dashboard is super green since the recent change: http://my.cdash.org/index.php?project=girder&date=2016-03-09

Maybe tonight the nightlies will even pass.
Harold Rodriguez
@hwrod
@zachmullen if I have it correctly, is this the right way to grunt a specific plugin?
grunt watch plugin:{plugin_name}
For some reason, it doesn't look like the plugin multitask is registered with Grunt, even thought the grunt_tasks/plugins.js file is loaded.
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
I think if you are just running grunt watch that should rebuild your plugin whenever you change files
Jonathan Beezley
@jbeezley
Grunt runs the tasks you provide on the command line in sequence, but the watch task blocks so no tasks specified after it will be executed.
Harold Rodriguez
@hwrod
@zachmullen @jbeezley Thanks guys, I eventually got it to work and built a standalone sandbox environment for testing plugins: https://github.com/epidemico/girder-plugin-development-sandbox

When building girder, I see a lot of warnings about deprecations in lodash and graceful-fs. Are there plans to tick these up?
Kacper Kowalik
@Xarthisius
Hi, I'm trying to update to girder 1.5.0 (using Docker). However it seems that server's UI isn't being built
relevant (I think) part of build log:
> girder@1.5.0 postinstall /girder
> grunt init && grunt

>> Tasks directory "grunt_tasks" not found.

Running "setup" task
Created local config file.

Done, without errors.
>> Tasks directory "grunt_tasks" not found.

Done, without errors.

when I try to run the image all I get on the main page is:

/girder/api/v1
/girder/static

and log shows dozens of 404 errors

Kacper Kowalik
@Xarthisius
heh, I guess adding COPY grunt_tasks /girder/grunt_tasks may fix that
Xarthisius @Xarthisius tries
Kacper Kowalik
@Xarthisius
yay
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
@Xarthisius Hi, for some reason my notifications were not showing up from gitter so I missed your message until now, but thanks for putting in the fix for this

Just tried unsuccessfully to configure an S3 Assetstore. I have an empty bucket. Provided only the bucket name under "S3 Bucket Name" and s3 as the service. Any ideas. followed the CORS config from girder docs. But did not come across any other documentation on it. Any ideas? I've confirmed that the credentials are valid because I can connect to the same bucket using Transmit (a SFTP/S3/... client).
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
@sharmaashish you typed "s3" as the service?
Zach Mullen
@zachmullen
That's meant to point to the host, so if you are trying to use AWS S3, you can leave it blank and it will use s3.amazonaws.com
Ashish Sharma
@sharmaashish
@zachmullen Thanks. Did that and now i get "unable to write into bucket..."
