Is there any feature planned to search for repositories by name or description?
Hanxue
@hanxue
Hello, how can I compare / diff 2 commits of the same file?
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@chazmuzz Currently, GitBucket does not have such feature. And also we don't have specific plan to make it.
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@hanxue You can see diff between 2 commits at the URL like below:
http://localhost:8080/who/repo/compare/base_id...target_id

Thanks @takezoe . Didn't seem to work
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@hanxue Naturally, there are no differences if you specify same id as base_id and target_id. Specify different id.

@ShalokShalom
it might be helpfull, to display the password and username for the demo somewhere

Is there any way to view a list of groups? I can see the list of mixed users and groups in the System Administration page, but it would be useful to see just groups on their own

@TheFynx
Has anyone setup code review tools (codebrag, reviewboard, crucible, gerrit, etc...) with gitbucket yet?
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@chazmuzz GitBucket does not have such view currently. But the filter for user list might be useful for administrator. Could you raise a feature request on GitHub?
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@TheFynx I have never do it. Previously, one user was trying reviewboard with gitbucket. But it seems did not work well.
Is not enough pull request and comment system of GitBucket for your purpose?

@devagorilla
Have anyone try to expose database configuration (ex: db url) as Gitbucket startup parameters?
Levi Smith
@TheFynx
@takezoe that's what we're doing now, which is great. It's initial repos that kind of make it odd. Right now we're creating new repos, then doing all work in a different branch so even on new repos we can utilize the in-line commenting (which is what we're looking for).
There's only 3 of us, so it's mostly out of curiosity rather than something crucial.
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@TheFynx That's good :-)
Of course, We want to improve cooperativeness with other tools, so we are continuing to implement GitHub APIs to work with tools which support GitHub.
mmuraki
@mmuraki
May I ask about gist-plugin here?
I'd like to see the list of all user's gist like a anonymous /gist page.
What would be a good way to see it?
otsuka
@otsuka

Our GitBucket runs behind Nginx reverse proxy.
I noticed today that in a payload of WebHook requests the proxied backend URL is used like this:
"pusher": { "html_url":"http://www.example.com:8080/gitbucket/username" ... }

It would be nice if Base URL specified in System Settings is used here.

Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@mmuraki You can write a such plugin, or pull request is welcome!
@otsuka Exactly. Could you raise an issue?
Levi Smith
@TheFynx
@takezoe or anyone really. Can gitbucket be setup with another database other than the internal one?
Matthieu Brouillard
@McFoggy
@TheFynx no not yet I think. There are already some enhancements registered to tackle that. What you could do quite easily is to change the db url/location to a different disk place, but not much more in the current version.
Levi Smith
@TheFynx
Ahh alright, I've just had fun moving from one host to another and it would be nice to lessen all the things that need to be migrated. Hopefully I can setup auto-backups/restore from S3 since we're using AWS.
Matthieu Brouillard
@McFoggy
If your purpose is backup, I invite you to read the wiki page regarding this. Backups via direct copy of files should be done offline. If like me you need hot-bakups then follow the guide, use the backup script with gitbucket-h2-backup-plugin
Levi Smith
@TheFynx
@McFoggy that's what we're using now, pretty handy little plugin.
Matthieu Brouillard
@McFoggy
@TheFynx fine to see it answers also other needs ;-)

@semudu
hi @takezoe, we can not search a member with full name. I think, this feature would be nice.
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@semudu Thanks for your request. I would like to know more details. Where do you need such feature?
Serhat Durmaz
@semudu
@takezoe I need it when adding a member to groups.
David McClain
@dayjavid
@takezoe or anyone, I'm sure I'm missing it somewhere.. but how do I add a new user. For reference, I'm on an older version - 2.8, but will likely be upgrading soon.
Sorry.. sorry.. I'm just a noob. Disregard previous quest.
@takezoe however, for upgrading from 2.8 to 3.8 or 3.9, are there any special considerations I need to make for such a jump? Or should it be as easy as replacing the WAR?
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@semudu Thanks. That sounds good. Could you raise a request on GitHub?
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@dayjavid Stop the application server and replace the war file simply. But make sure to backup your data after stop the application server.
David McClain
@dayjavid
@takezoe Awesome thanks for the reply

Silly question, is there a way to set the rate limit in gitbucket?
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@curtiswright No. However we have a plan to make a new extension point to hook Git repository access by plug-in. When this extension point will be available, we can make a plug-in which makes a rate limit of repository.
Curtis Wright
@curtiswright
@takezoe Thanks for the response. I've been trying to follow the step in gitbucket/gitbucket#684 but get an error around rate limit.
fomcl
@fomcl
In the office we use gitbucket v3.2 (I think). Is it, in newer versions, possible to use html rather than md for the wiki? We use Python/Sphinx, which uses restructuredText to generate html docs. I currently use pandoc to covert that html back into markdown_github. Which is imperfect & cumbersome :-)
Naoki Takezoe
@takezoe
@curtiswright Hm? What do you mean "rate limit" you mentioned? Related to the pull request builder?
@fomcl No, it's impossible even in the latest version of GitBucket.

@yaroot
Is there any plan to add pages support (like gh-pages branch on github)? cc @fomcl
