@takezoe IIRC, Branch protection helps to avoid rebase or branch deletion, but it has noting to do with direct commit, doesn't it?
and protect from merging pull requests without status checking. You're right.
Thank you for your clarification!
How can I reinstall gitbucket?
What exactly do you mean by "reinstall"?
If I understand correctly what you have written, then you should delete everything from /opt/gitbucket (well, that's my configuration) and launch gitbucket again
Dear Devs, could You implement HTTPS? Is it even possible? I would help, but I only know Java
Thanks for your help! After I install, I go start via ssh. After I close ssh command. Gitbucket stop. I want to change folder, but I can not change. It always point path to older. So I want to reinstall it. Now I've reset my VPS. Thanks anyway your help!
Do you have your Gitbucket on Docker?
Your Gitbucket stops, because you have to launch it in background: java -jar gitbucket.war 1> /dev/null & <--- this ampersand makes the command run on background
And for changing location you need to modify GITBUCKET_HOME variable, for example: export GITBUCKET_HOME=/home/gitbucket
@michal5520pl for HTTPS you can serve gitbucket behind an http server (apache, nginx, caddy, ...) and do SSL termination there and proxy requests to gitbucket
try caddy if nginx is not a hard requirement, it supports letsencrypt natively, which I assume you're using.
502 Bad Gateway, help me
configuration in ubuntu
Jason B. Alonso
@andersonsj , "502 Bad Gateway" is an error you'll see, for example, returned by NGINX when it can't contact the gitbucket server behind it. This can be caused by a misconfiguration of the reverse proxy (e.g. it has the wrong hostname or port for the upstream gitbucket server). I doubt anyone can say more about what you're seeing without more context. Are you following directions from a particular website? If so, how did your steps deviate from the verbatim example?
hi guys, out of curiosity, what is the technical reason to the password length limit ?
as well as not supporting special characters
The password length limit comes from the database column length, but the current validation allows only 20 chars while the column length is 40. So, we can expand the password length up to 40 chars.
Also, the limitation of chars in password is introduced in order to reduce inquiries from unmatured users. There were many inquiries from GitBucket users who can't access Git repository because they didn't escape their password properly in Git URL.
Actually, GitBucket has --validate_password option to disable password validation, still password length is validated though. You can use this option if you need to allow special chars in password.
ok, great tool you've built, we've just started using it (for only one week :)) and we love it, from gitlab-land, searching for lightweight web based git repo management
Ever ever you configure some user as reviwer on gitbucket?
I'm try doing it
I.ve configured Jenkins as reviewer, bat I'd like to require at least one collaborator to
I wonder how to download gitbucket.war. I tried dozens of times on your github page and every time it failed with only a small portion of the file downloaded. Do you have an alternative download besides the github page (https://github.com/gitbucket/gitbucket/releases)? I hope the alternative download link can be quicker accessed in China, additionally.
@marmartins Unfortunately, GitBucket doesn't have a functionality to assign someone as a reviewer for now.
@yanjisheng Currently, that release page is a primary and only available page for downloading GitBucket release files. As far as I know, there is no mirror of GitBucket releases.
@takezoe Thank you. I finally managed to download it from the github page. Maybe it's the problem of my network provider.
@yanjisheng humm... I don't think this feature is very complex to implement. It can have a big value to Gitbucket. I'm using and enjoying a lot.. Congrats guys.
I don't think this feature is very complex to implement.
@marmartins Yeah, that might be true, but I don't have enough time for working on GitBucket now, unfortunately. Could you create an issue on GitHub to request that feature?
