Hi @johncoghlan_gitlab !
Thanks for opening up this channel!

@rpaik_gitlab
@nico-meisenzahl_gitlab unfortunately that's still the case on iOS
@MadLittleMods is there a plan to support GitLab authentication in iOS in the near future?
m4r10k_gitlab @m4r10k_gitlab installing Gitter on Android...

:point_up: February 7, 2020 8:53 AM @rpaik_gitlab No plans on adding it, gitlab-org/gitter/gitter-ios-app#24. We are focusing on the webapp and mobile web experience.

We have GitLab sign in in the Android app because of a community contribution :heart:, gitlab-org/gitter/gitter-android-app/-!112

I created a new template for sharing opportunities with GitLab Heroes. Feedback on the template is welcome. What else would you like to see when assessing opportunities? gitlab-com/marketing/community-relations/gitlab-heroes#44
Nico Meisenzahl
@nmeisenzahl
@johncoghlan_gitlab cool! The only problem I see is that it might be a little difficult for heroes to track the project for new issues (manually, RSS feed). What do you think?
Mario Kleinsasser
@m4r10k_gitlab
I think so too. I check the project regularly but it's a manual process :smile: I've also found this isssu gitlab-org/gitlab#24707 but I think it is not what we want. Maybe, as suggestion, the repository owner could setup a webhook on the repository, the webhook receiver then sends an mail to the mail list is a new issue is created. This should be doable with a little bit of glue code... :see_no_evil:

I watch the project, and get emails for every change in it. Works for my workflow

looking into it just now too

@m4r10k_gitlab I keep getting a notification that I'm getting added to the GitLab Heroes list on Twitter
I'm assuming it's the job rerunning?
Mario Kleinsasser
@m4r10k_gitlab
Ah, I will have a look at it.

@adrianmoisey_gitlab
Thanks

Re bell: Even with the Custom option I will subscripe for any issues. not only the hero contribution ones. Does anyone knows a better/other option to fix this? Maybe it’s also just a feedback for @johncoghlan_gitlab ;)
Adrian Moisey
@adrianmoisey_gitlab
So you only want a subset of issues in that project?
Nico Meisenzahl
@nmeisenzahl
It is primary a feedback for John on his message above. If GitLab provides issues with opportunities for Heros it would be nice to have an easy and working way to subscribe to them.
Nothing I need now.
Adrian Moisey
@adrianmoisey_gitlab
Another option is for those issues to be created with a specific label, and you subscribe to that label
KAREGYEYA MARVIN
@nuwe1_gitlab
@nmeisenzahl I think the alternative would be to get more Heroes to use this channel and have a way to star important communications that may be missed out by non-frequent users of the platform. I believe it would be better to optimize usage of the current tools to avoid creating complex loops on the side of non-technical Heroes. Let issues be created with the opportunities and let them be shared here and the greatest effort should be put in getting all Heroes here
Adrian Moisey
@adrianmoisey_gitlab
Anyone know if gitter can do RSS feeds?

Anyone interested in working on a submission for the We Are Developers World Congress? gitlab-com/marketing/corporate-marketing#1681
I created a new label (request-for-heroes) within the GitLab Heroes project and added it to the template I shared earlier this week. That gives our Heroes the option to subscribe to the label so they only receive notifications about requests-for-heroes (as opposed to turning on notifications for the project). cc @nmeisenzahl @adrianmoisey_gitlab

@VladimirAus
@johncoghlan_gitlab : I'm planning to submit call for papers for about 10 Australia / New Zealand conferences for 2020-2021. So I have few questions:
  • Do you want the list of conferences created as separate tasks / single task/ submitted via email / don't want the list at all?
  • Is there a chance to get merchandise to share during the conference/ after talks (at least stickers)?
  • Is gitlab interested in sponsoring any conferences in Aus/NZ region?
