This room is for Gitter, the chat app itself, not general technical support
This is a non-blocker, but leaves me curious. I searched the gitter channel for avatar question and there's plenty of related info there going back to 2015, so I don't know what's been resolved or still applicable and figure someone could quickly respond to an issue board or give a summary here.
For what seems like non-gitter accounts (e.g., this one that is logged in via Twitter), gitter shows nothing. I accepted a notion of being an outside account an oAuth, CORS, or associated issue pulling in foreign images; however some rooms I'm joining also lack avatars/icons. Even the GitLab/gitlab
room seems to lack an icon. I thought it might be limited to iOS, but it seems to occur on the web client as well.
Any expectation this will be resolved?
I experience that the tray icon of the Gitter client disappears on Ubuntu 20.04. Does anyone experience the same?
The notes about the tray icon at https://gitlab.com/gitterHQ/desktop#tray-icon-on-ubuntu are not very helpful.
I can see Gitter is still running in the background after the icon disappears, but I cannot open Gitter if the window has been closed. Nothing happens when I click the Gitter icon in my dock. To make it work again, I have to pkill Gitter
and run it again.
This message is replying to a Matrix event but we were unable to find associated bridged Gitter message to put it in the appropriate threaded conversation.
time to cleanup ~400 accounts eh...
