What's the problem if we only have one branch on a Github project?
Julian Gonggrijp
@jgonggrijp
@Josebuendia There isn't necessarily a problem with that, why?
Fintan Moloney
@Josebuendia
Because not knowing how to use Git I want to reduce my team's complication to the minimum.
Julian Gonggrijp
@jgonggrijp
@Josebuendia With a team, it's going to be very challenging to completely avoid branches. If two people work in parallel, you automatically have two branches. Preventing that would require that everyone takes turns.
One of the main advantages of git (and similar systems like mercurial) is that you can have multiple branches at almost no cost.

In github.com, when I click the "command line instructions" link next to the "squash-merge" pull request -- it doesn't specify the --squash option. Anyone know what the command line equivalent is for github's squash merge?

class QB_EPOs

        }
    }
}

class QB_EItems extends QB_EPOs
{
    private $_eSQL = "SELECT DISTINCT(Name) FROM Items";
}
If I callQB_Items->fetch() Shouldn't it use the string set when exended?

I think it is done with an option to git rebase instead of git merge. You'll probably find the word "squash" if you run git help rebase.

As an aside, I don't really recommend squashing merge requests. It destroys a lot of useful information about the editing history.

How do other team members commit whilst using their SSH in a private repository?

@Josebuendia
If a team member is missing part of the project should they just clone it again or use git fetch origin
git reset --hard origin/master?

@Josebuendia

How do other team members commit whilst using their SSH in a private repository?

Everyone commits in the same way. Commits are saved to your local clone so the number of other team members has no influence on the way you commit your work.

If a team member is missing part of the project should they just clone it again or use git fetch origin
git reset --hard origin/master?

That depends a bit on why the part in question is missing. For example: did they accidentally delete it, or did they check out the wrong branch, or are they not up-to-date with changes that other team members have made.

@Josebuendia
@jgonggrijp when they commit it says my Github account did.
Julian Gonggrijp
@jgonggrijp
@Josebuendia It might be possible to explain that if they use your credentials.
