I believe I have fixed this error with adding in etc/03-sessions
// add flash message support
app.use(session(settings.session));
app.use(flash());
app.all(policies.notApiRouteRegexp, flash());
Logan Isitt
@loganisitt
After hours of struggles, I used the above fix and it worked for me.

@RichardLindhout
It's cool it worked for you too! Can you please mention that you have the same problem on this page: niftylettuce/eskimo#98

@bneiluj
hello
is eskimo still being used ?
Jeduan Cornejo
@jeduan
yes it is
we use it for many client projects at a time
sachaudh
@sachaudh

i have eskimo running but i get this notice

error: not authorized for query on igloo-development.users

Is it because it doesn't have a user and password associated with the database? I'm not sure where to add that or where the database is being started
sachaudh
@sachaudh
how should i set up the mongo section of the config file.
niftylettuce
@niftylettuce
@sachaudh figure it out?

hi guys, i need a little help to auth with linkedin
Eduardo Pereira
@eduardonunesp
made it
it's super easy
niftylettuce
@niftylettuce
@eduardonunesp you all good now?
Eduardo Pereira
@eduardonunesp
of course ready to go, my app is now auth with linkedin, could be a good idea to put linkedin login into the default app too, isn't ?
niftylettuce
@niftylettuce
@eduardonunesp most apps only used google or fb typically, so not a default unfortunately
@eduardonunesp what you could do is write a blog post detailing how to integrate it with eskimo, code snippets, how-to from linked in developer portal site (screenshots etc) and then we could link to it and tweet it and promote your post
Eduardo Pereira
@eduardonunesp
great it's a good idea ;-)

Hi guys! I'm trying to add facebook login to my iOS app. I'm following the tutorial on the website (http://niftylettuce.com/posts/nodejs-auth-google-facebook-ios-android-eskimo/).
I get the access token from the facebook SDK, but when I invoke "http://localhost:3000/api/auth/facebook" with the access_token parameter, I'm getting this:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6132766/error.jpg
Any idea on what I could be doing wrong?
Thanks!
Richard Lindhout
@RichardLindhout
@che1404 Are you sure that you have reddit enabled or maybe look at this url I have a solution there for a problem that looks the same: niftylettuce/eskimo#98
niftylettuce
@niftylettuce
@richardrowe @che1404 he had a typo, he meant to ask if you had redis installed on your computer, see http://redis.io

@che1404
Hi guys. Thanks, that was the issue! Now I'm getting the following error: "Unknown authentication strategy "facebook-token"". I'd say that I followed the steps on the website, but I'll double check that. Thanks!

Hi! I just found out about eskimo and been testing it today and so far I'm loving how organized and clean it is, apart from the massive dependencies (378M, wtf?)
But the only letdown is Jade...
Anyone forcing users to this torture device should be brought to The International Court of Justice
Has anyone made any port of eskimo to any other template engine, like handlebars, ejs, or any sane one?
Richard Lindhout
@RichardLindhout
I can't get the authentication working
I don't know what params I need to do
I've tried user=(apikey) password=empty
and api_token=(apikey) password=""
and with name
name and apikey
Richard Lindhout
@RichardLindhout
I think i understand it now after looking into the cURL documentation ;)

Hi Guys,
tarushbali
@tarushbali

I had a question regarding facebook authentication using http://niftylettuce.com/posts/nodejs-auth-google-facebook-ios-android-eskimo/

When I first use Facebook SDK, I should get an access code. I register to my api with this access code and get back a token. I use this token to make any future requests. What happens when I have to login again? I'm guessing I just need to use Facebook SDK to figure out email related to access code? And then pass back a new token? In that case, I don't really need to store my access code in my mongo db?

niftylettuce
@niftylettuce
@tarushbali hey!
You send a POST to /login/facebook with access_token
Then you get in the response a user object that has their API token
Use this token as the BasicAuth user param then in all future requests
I have something cool to unveil soon for this. To help make it clearer.
@tarushbali let me know of any other questions
