Globalize is no longer compatible with FriendlyId using the friendly_id-globalize gem, see: https://github.com/globalize/globalize/issues/543#issuecomment-268115937
The gem and FriendlyId itself do not seem to be maintained, and maintaining support on Globalize side would be painful.

I did not realize that. What is weird is it work at start everywhere, but stop working after a while just for one model... I am willing to contribute to open source project, but pretty new at this so do you think it is worth it to try to fix the gem ? Edit: thanks for your time :-)

Good morning
I had a question about globalize/globalize#620
Is there anyone who could explain if there is a way to save all translations for the available locale when a resource is saved?
I need all translation (also the empty ones) to show in my active admin page
I tried a fix but it still seems to be buggy
I can give more details on what is going wrong on the github post

has anyone ever seen the effect of calling translates in a model definition somehow removing those columns from the model's list of attributes?
somehow, in my tests, the columns passed to translates are missing from Model.attribute_names :O
and if I comment out the translates line, the columns suddenly appear back in the list

Anyone trying to use globalize with Rails 5.1?
I had the following problem globalize/globalize#625. Can anyone help me out to solve this issue?
The issue might be badly written but I'm here to clarify as needed

What is the correct way to order HABTM associations by the current locale translation? e.g. https://gist.github.com/garethrees/aef31364b1bf7619170aa79c2d6b99dc

So, I'm experiencing this issue globalize/globalize#562 with AR 5+
But still, this version wasn't published yet, so I'm wondering when it will be :)

Hello
Im experiences an issue usingn migrate_data
By looking at the source code, it seems that the code doesnt use any batch and instead does : model.all.collect ...
I have to migrate a large amount of data and i guess it's very slow because of that
Do you have any ideas?
mdebo
@mdebo
oh it was my bad
The code use batch , im sorry .-)
thank you

I want to have text fields in a model that can have translations. Is this the gem I want to use? Eg, I would like to be able to get records by Model.find_by(<some way to specify id and language>)
or is it intended for building translation tables?
Joseph Haig
@jrmhaig
Specifically I want to be able to display parallel texts in different languages so I'm not looking to just translate the whole site.

Also, is version 5.1.0, which I see currently has beta versions on Ruby Gems, for Rails 5?

Hey all, is there an option to have globalize use only one polymorphic table for translations?

Has anyone been able to get the minitests passing for this change? globalize/globalize#629

@parndt thanks, I'm not as familiar with minitest as with other frameworks, but I'll keep looking into it

Hi! I'm using Globalize for the first time and have followed the instructions in the Readme. It works great to create the translation for the first model and now I jumped onto the second model that needs translation for three attributes. Set it up in the same way as the one previous, ran the migration, all ok. But then I looked into the DB and realized that all the existing user generated data that was made in Swedish had the locale :en even if I use I18n.with_locale :sv when I create the translation table with migrate_data set to true. How come?

Hi, I'm trying to sort with fallbacks but it doesn't seem to work.
If I have something like:

class Test < ActiveRecord::Base
  translates :name
end

// application.rb
config.i18n.fallbacks = true
Globalize.fallbacks = { en: :pt}

I18n.locale = :pt

Test.order(:name)

This won't show the Test that have no name in :pt

Hey I'm using the latest master branch of Globalize with my Rails 5 application and I'm having an issue with Globalize adding my translated columns to the ignored list, but not replacing them with anything. Anyone experience anything similar or know what I might be doing wrong?
It causes my have_db_column tests to fail. Perhaps, I just don't understand fully how Globalize operates.

Hello, can someone here related to Globalize help me out? I have 2 models, one called posts, other one called posts_translations, and i save the title and body of the posts in the posts_translations. How can i save in a variable all unique posts but translated to my language in case my_language locale exists, else display englisH?
If someone can help me, could u please answer my question to my email? canario_dario@hotmail.com. I would appreciated so much. many thanks

Hi guys, I'm using Globalize to store translations in different languages.
But I'm not sure why Globalize stores language as locale.
Language should be :en, :ru, :ch, etc.
