@bkcsoft thanks
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 15 2017 19:16
geek1011: it affects my ui too, making every refresh slower, please don't (one day in another room you'll tell me what you do, so I can try to figure out how to make the software I use stop being affected by it)
@tboerger: all my argumentations against Gitter will go to /dev/null when it's time for them to go, not when <random company> publishes <random advertisment> :)
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 15 2017 19:18
@strk everything gets opensourced :)
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 15 2017 19:23
@tboerger those are just words, until the code is out there
and are words coming from a company with an open core business model, meaning not everything gets opensources, as a model
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 19:30
Well, I know for a fact that Gitter will be 100% FOSS under MIT :)
Starz0r
@Starz0r
Mar 15 2017 19:31
Gitter is going open source?
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 19:31
yes, see their blog :)
Patrick G
@geek1011
Mar 15 2017 19:31
@bkcsoft go-gitea/gitea#1269
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 15 2017 19:34
@Starz0r just read your mails. Gitter have been aquired by Gitlab and they will opensource everything.
Starz0r
@Starz0r
Mar 15 2017 19:34
I read that part @tboerger
but I didn't see the part where they were open sourcing everything
I can't see anyone trying to fork it anyway
we have too many messaging apps
I'd rather just use and stick to one or two
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 15 2017 19:35
maybe we will also get searchable archives now :P
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 19:35
It's not about forking, it's about getting the community to chime in and being able to help where they can :)
Starz0r
@Starz0r
Mar 15 2017 19:36
Well I guess my thing is
What makes Gitter better than the Slacks and the Discord of the world?
Will it try to replacate those successes now that it's going open source?
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 15 2017 19:38
it got different targets
discord is chat and voice for gamers, slack/mattermost is team collaboration, gitter is open public project communication :)
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 19:40
slack/mattermost is for closed collaboration (since it's invite only), while gitter is for open collaboration ;)
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger

Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 19:45
it's basically a single Electron-app with multiple tabs in it :P
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 15 2017 19:46
tabs for the web apps
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 19:46
which reduces memory-usage but a lot
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 20:14
humm... something that caught my eye just now...
 $ find templates/ -name "*.tmpl" -type f -exec wc -l {} \; | sort -nr | head -10
444 templates/repo/issue/view_content.tmpl
393 templates/repo/settings/options.tmpl
354 templates/home.tmpl
281 templates/admin/config.tmpl
260 templates/install.tmpl
211 templates/admin/auth/edit.tmpl
209 templates/base/head.tmpl
205 templates/admin/auth/new.tmpl
157 templates/repo/issue/labels.tmpl
156 templates/repo/issue/list.tmpl
:scream:
Do they really have to be that big? :P
Patrick G
@geek1011
Mar 15 2017 20:15
yes
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 20:15
Or should I start refactoring that into smaller pieces?
Patrick G
@geek1011
Mar 15 2017 20:15
that is why you need to lgtm and merge asap
I am uploading a video
to make your review faster
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 20:16
@geek1011 not related to you PR directly, but the size of admin/auth/edit.tmpl caught my eye. And a lot of that is just if LDAP render LDAP, elseif PAM render PAM etc...
which is a 2 minute refactor
Patrick G
@geek1011
Mar 15 2017 20:17
Lets refactor that after
Can you lgtm now
go-gitea/gitea#1270
@strk can you also review go-gitea/gitea#1270 ASAP
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 20:18
indeed
Patrick G
@geek1011
Mar 15 2017 20:21
ok, i'll fix that
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 20:21
Look for similar things in the other places as well. Didn't see anything in the video, but just to be sure :)
Patrick G
@geek1011
Mar 15 2017 20:22
bkcsoft: can you lgtm it now
@bkcsoft go-gitea/gitea#1270 please
It's fixed (the redundant item)
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 20:29
:+1:
Merging is blocked until the builds are passing, seems like alpine has issues with their server: http://dl-cdn.alpinelinux.org/alpine/edge/main/x86_64/
(it returns 503 Connection Timed Out)
yeah, dl.alpinelinux.org is down :unamused:
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 15 2017 20:55
Starz0r: right, I don't feel the need for Gitter at all :)
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 15 2017 21:07
@geek1011: as you're not registered to services, I'd make you IRC channel maintainer too
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 15 2017 21:13
*now registered
Patrick G
@geek1011
Mar 15 2017 21:14
Yes, thanks
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 21:19
humm... I think we're being rate-limited by Alpine CDN...
@tboerger ^
If I run 1 build it runs just fine, if I spin up 2 more concurrently it fails on getting APKINDEX
Patrick G
@geek1011
Mar 15 2017 21:34
@bkcsoft go-gitea/gitea#1270 is passed the checks and is ready to merge
Also, try.gitea.io is a 404
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 15 2017 21:41
@bkcsoft so we need an alpine mirror? :D
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 15 2017 21:56
404 confirmed on try.gitea.io
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 15 2017 22:10
@tboerger preferably... can we shove it into minio? would also make the builds more reproducable ;)
OR we can have a "origin-image" with alpine + apk-deps
