Hi, I'm a little new to Gitea but just installed it with Docker on a DigitalOcean droplet. I'm doing the install process. I'm not sure what to put under the "host" field as I'm using postgres for the database and defaults to mysql
Also, after I'm doing with the install, can I go back and edit some of the configurations? For instance, I haven't purchased an SSL yet but for sure want that
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 30 2017 02:36
"purchased"? LetsEncrypt is free :D
Sterling Cobb
@fourcolors
Mar 30 2017 02:36
Wait really?
I didn't know that.
fourcolors @fourcolors googling

Oh hell yes. Thank you for that tip. I can't believe I didn't know about that

Mar 30 2017 02:38
If you know the config, you can change the config and restart gitea as time as you like

How do I find out what my host should be for postgres? I followed the docs line by line found here https://docs.gitea.io/en-us/install-with-docker/
bzub
@bzub
Mar 30 2017 04:33
@fourcolors I use postgres with gitea, my host is just hostname.com:5432
so nothing fancy, do you know the IP or hostname of the postgres instance?
so here's my database section
   [database]
    ; Either "mysql", "postgres" or "sqlite3", you can connect to TiDB with MySQL protocol
    DB_TYPE = postgres
    HOST = gitea-postgresql:5432
    NAME = gitea
    USER = postgres
    ; TODO: put this in a secret, however gitea does not support env vars config
    PASSWD = `REDACTED`
    ; For "postgres" only, either "disable", "require" or "verify-full"
    SSL_MODE = disable
maybe you mean you can't change the type of database in the web UI install page? When I installed I'm pretty sure postgresql was selectable. In any case you can create/edit an app.ini config before or after the install page

Mar 30 2017 08:20
@fourcolors have you started the gitea container with a --link to the postgres container? Than just take this link name as database hostname

Mar 30 2017 11:29
Hey so what is the difference between gogs and gitea?
Richard Weber
@Tebro
Mar 30 2017 11:32
@tboerger also found this: gogits/gogs#1304
Is there a way to migrate to gitea from gogs? Without a DB wipe etc?
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 11:32
@Tebro but to name some big features of gitea that gogs doesn’t have: 2FA, oAuth2 consumer, notification center, branch tree
@Tebro give it a try. if your gogs version isn’t too new it should migrate the database correctly.
don’t forget a backup :)
Richard Weber
@Tebro
Mar 30 2017 11:33
it is about 2 weeks old. ;)
but then again there is not really much in the DB because of that
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 11:34
i have not checked if it works with a current gogs version.
Richard Weber
@Tebro
Mar 30 2017 11:35
Ok, well I will give it a shot
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 11:39
@Tebro: check version.version in the Gogs database
@Tebro if it's 15 or below things should work
@Tebro: oh, and Gitea has OpenID-2.0 sign-in support too :)
Richard Weber
@Tebro
Mar 30 2017 11:42
Aiit, finally found some active open source projects that use Go. This gets me all excited (wife is going to hate this)
seems like version.version == 14
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 12:18
@Tebro: great, so you shall be fine :)
btw, someone mentioned that altought version.version was == 16 the v15.go migration was still running, which would be useful to dig up as it would look like a bug
Richard Weber
@Tebro
Mar 30 2017 12:19
Did not do any migration, just kept the old one as backup and made a fresh install. (having some issues with drone on the side so was hoping a clean slate would help, it did not)

Hi all, with the closed PRs for OpenID support, can I use OpenID as a authentication source like LDAP now? (@strk worked on this, right?)
Alexey Palazhchenko
@AlekSi
Mar 30 2017 14:00
Will it include go-gitea/gitea#733 What is the status commit comments / merge request reviews?
I may have time to contribute to it, so trying to understand the current status of this feature.

Cadair @Cadair could not find it in the directory

Cadair that's a lovely room id :p
Max
@mxmehl
Mar 30 2017 14:20
@strk thanks! sorry for asking again, just to confirm: so I could define a authentication URL in the admin panel and people could login with their ID on this provider without having to register an account in the first place?
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 15:01
@Tebro I'm using gitea 1.1 with drone at work, but I have not triggered tag events so far.
I Want to enable a drone demo integration on try.gitea.io as well, but maybe this requires a bigger droplet
Like drone.try.gitea.io
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 17:28
Max: please come to Freenode (#gitea channel) because I don't get messages here (irc gitter gateway) for some obscure reason
Gitter sucks and nobody should rely on it
it was by chance that I read your message, only because I happen to be also connected via Matrix and I do get messages there
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 17:29
That's your opinion. Gitter is the only official support channel
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 17:30
@tboerger: official choice sucks then (and yes, it's my opinion of course)
luckly there is an unofficial IRC channel currently counting 28 people connected
and note I could answer you only because I happen to be also connected via Matrix because I'm still talking alone here
maybe you'll like a screenshot
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 17:32
I really don't care. Write to the Gitter support. I prefer native clients
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 17:34
I'd rather use stable and open protocols than ask for support on proprietary services
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 17:36
This will be different soon anyway
And the native clients don't have any issue I can talk about
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 17:44
Cadair It has worked pretty well for me in other projects
Cadair If there is a gitter and matrix and irc why not bridge this channel into irc as well?
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 18:30
on /reconnect it now works
Cadair: is it possible to bridge a Gitter channel to IRC ?
if you know how to do that, please go ahead
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 18:32
Cadair well you can bridge a matrix channel to both gitter and IRC
Cadair so you can use those two bridges to bridge gitter to IRC
Cadair it would require someone with admin in the matrix channel and someone with ops in the irc channel
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 18:46
Cadair: I'm op in irc channel, and I don't think there's a matrix channel
so if you want to fund that, please go ahead
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 18:47
jcgruenhage there are multiple matrix channels, and since matrix is federated/open-source, there is no need to fund anything
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 18:51
I meant *found
as in "channel founder"
ie: the one who has privileges on the channel name
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 18:58
jcgruenhage If you want me to set that up, I can do that. Everyone can keep using gitter/irc if they want, with all three of them bridged together. I'd just need someone with OP on both ends, as far as I know.
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 19:11
yes please jcgruenhage (who wants to know how it continues, come to IRC :)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:12
jcgruenhage well.. The bridge stopped complaining about you not being an OP and started complaining that it could not change some room settings..
strk on Freenode request authorized jcgruenhage
jcgruenhage Well, it seems that they are now bridged together :D
strk on Freenode cool
strk So i can close this window now :)
jcgruenhage yes.
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:17
jcgruenhage come join #gitea:gruenhage.xyz
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 19:17
done, but I guess I could also close this one then :)
only, this one (the IRC gateway) is the only one that has me chat with my own nick...
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:18
jcgruenhage I'll change that alias to #gitea:matrix.org, but I need to log in to my other matrix account for that ^^
strk on Freenode uhm.. except in IRC I get to talk with FullName instead of Nick, is that something you can tweak on your side jcgruenhage ?
jcgruenhage what exactly do you mean? For me you get displayed as strk (IRC)
Sandro Santilli
@strk
Mar 30 2017 19:20
jcgruenhage: not me :)
(which is "strk" user on github, as connected to Gitter via IRC gateway)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:20
strk on Freenode the two lines above I see (from IRC) as coming from < SandroSantilliGi>
jcgruenhage what do you mean then?
strk on Freenode 21:20 < SandroSantilliGi> jcgruenhage: not me :)
jcgruenhage well, haven't you sent that from gitter? your display name there is you full name, which causes this.
strk on Freenode yes, the above was sent from gitter
strk on Freenode it wouldn't be needed, but what I say from here (IRC) gets sent with hard-to-reply-to nick on gitter, and vice-versa
strk on Freenode that's the "nick" issue I was referring about
jcgruenhage There is an issue on some matrix repo online about weird nick names, when going through multiple bridges, that behaviour is sadly expected right now
strk on Freenode anyway, thanks for setting this up, will leave the gitea channel
strk on Freenode (on gitter, that is)
jcgruenhage you should receive anything here now ^^
strk on Freenode or, I would if it could be done via IRC gateway, but cannot w/out firing the web browser, so this is postponed to another day
jcgruenhage (And users of matrix and IRC won't even see every message as sent from a bot ;D)
strk on Freenode indeed, that's good too
strk on Freenode but if I reply to a gitter user I'd use (from IRC) the name I see, and that will probably not ring (alert) the ones who I'm replying to
jcgruenhage I just took a look at gitter, that looks so ugly
jcgruenhage that is right :/
strk on Freenode don't tell me - I only use it via irc gateway
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:25
Cadair What the hell. Why is there a gitter bot in the matrix channel
strk on Freenode and only when really required
strk on Freenode Cadair: so to get your voice in here while you talk in gitter ?
jcgruenhage Cadair: What do you mean?
Cadair am I in a different matrix channel or something
strk on Freenode uhm, still.. why is Cadair coming via < gitterbot[m]> while I was coming as < SandroSantilliGi> ? -- it gets confusing
jcgruenhage It seems like that
Cadair because this channel isn't bridged into irc but now there is a gitter bot and invidual gitter people
matrixbot Cadair is really confused
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:27
strk on Freenode jcgruenhage: @gitterbot:matrix.org is not your bridge is it ?
Cadair who just set up what IRC bridge?
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Cadair: come to #gitea:jcg.re
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) I did
Cadair hello
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Here it looks better, right?
Cadair that's better!!
strk on Freenode much better
strk on Freenode can I get back to bed now ? all set ?
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Yes! Thanks for getting up again :)
strk on Freenode thank you !
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:32
strk Is thus also better than...
Cadair :)
strk[m] on Freenode This?
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) what have you done now?!
strk Even an icon. Loveit (I joined your matrix channel here)
strk[m] on Freenode While I'm using the matrix.org bridge here
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Well, that looks not nice :D
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) but you can just leave the other bridged room ^^
strk[m] on Freenode This one I should leave ?
Cadair Hello all :)
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Yes :D
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Btw, #gitea:matrix.org should now work!
Cadair yay!
strk Left. So now I rely on your server?
Cadair have you listed it in the directory?
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) I think I did
Cadair strk: no, it's federated so we can talk even if one of the servers go down
Cadair unless it's your server :p
strk Great !
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) The bridge is still running on matrix.org though. Bridging is not federated ^^
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:38
Cadair true!
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) posted an image: Screenshot from 2017-03-30 21-38-14.png
Cadair it's a shame that gitter doesn't support bridging better than it does
Cadair i.e like slack webhooks
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Paul: Hello ^^
ptman[m] on Freenode so I'll just leave from here, then
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) It's funny, how the display name of messages sent from the other matrix room still look better on gitter than in here
Paul thanks for doing work to unify the channels
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) ptman[m] on Freenode instead of @freenode_ptman[m]:matrix.org
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) no problem, I'm just happy that I can leave gitter ;D
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) It's just a shame that I had to disable guest access in order for the gitter bridge to work :/
Cadair huh?
Cadair you did?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:43
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Well, guests can not join this room ^^
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) At first, this was enabled, but when I tried to set up the gitter bridge, it complained about that ^^
strk Woot ? They can via IRC right ?
Cadair odd, I have guest rooms with the bridge enabled
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Yes, of course, just not in matrix
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) let me just try to reenable that, maybe it just check when first bridging ;D
Cadair anyone can join, right they need a matrix account though.
Guest 194042 well, that seems to work
strk jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz): why do you have such a long nick ?
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) because there are three jcgruenhage's: @jcgruenhage:matrix.org, @jcgruenhage:jcg.re and @jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz, with the last one being the account I actively use.
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 19:46
Ok now the chat gets really crappy... Maybe it's time to launch a concourse instance and time to leave here for me
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:47
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Or you could just come and use matrix or IRC ;)
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) And it is not that bad :P
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) It doesn't look as nice, but that's gitters fault
Cadair I hope that the open sourcing of gitter leads to webhooks support
Cadair well bot support
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 19:48
I don't want to provide support on irc and I don't want to use matrix
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:48
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) gitter is going open source? :o
Cadair yeah it got purchased by GitLab
strk Don't hold your breath ...
Cadair I am not!!
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Well, then stay in gitter ^^ It's not that bad. It just appears that bad because right now there are only non-gitter users writing. That surely won't happen that often, looking at the size of the rooms ;)
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) (ping @tboerger)
Cadair I like this because it enables people to use whatever platform they like
Paul yes, bridging is good
Paul bridges could be improved, though
Cadair and it's free and hosted for you :D
lesderid on Freenode my git stuff is getting spammed again
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) And federated, so that I can still talk to Paul when matrix.org is down. I guess he is the only one though, since everybody else is either using matrix.org or connected via a bridge hosted there ^^
Cadair I do have my own homeserver, but I can't be bothered to change my identity from matrix.org to it, it would be so much faffing and then my server would crash or something XD
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 19:56
Cadair So does anyone online have any experience with the arch package?
Cadair I am having issues with custom/conf
Paul I'm using the docker image
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Just use docker :P
strk Custom is looked for in the ssme dir containing tge gitea binary
strk Unless you set an environment variable
Paul and gravitating towards container images in general, because then I don't have to fight to keep all kinds of different software packages in a single namespace

It is making it extremly hard to see who actually said something. And respond-by-ping is impossible. Go figure :)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 20:00
Cadair Paul: yeah I am considering it, but I worry about the rate that some of the containers are rebuilt
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) I'd argue that actively forcing people to use closed source software is a strange move for a group of developers writing an open source replacement for github ;)
Cadair +1
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 30 2017 20:01
You're still using gitter in the end. There's an IRC-bridge that works fine :)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 20:01
strk Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker (Gitter): using matrix seems to help with the ping/nick
Cadair the gitter irc server is pretty rough
Cadair at least it used to be
Cadair fwiw for those in matrix you can lookup someones actual gitter nick by clicking on their profile in the members panel
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 30 2017 20:02
@strk not for me it ain't :) I got no ping on that :)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 20:03
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) if you try to ping @jcgruenhage, I'll get a ping in matrix, and I can still use @bkcsoft to let your gitter ping ^^
strk Cadair: I've been receiving no messages via the IRC gateway for 2 days...
Cadair so no better then :p
strk @bkcsoft that's because you are not connected via matrix but via the bridge which is not mapping nicks in a pingable way (unfortunate limitation for which I don't feel like blaming matrix-gitter-bridge devs for)
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) i'd rather blame gitter for that.
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 20:09
Cadair I fell as though the matrix side should use gitter nicks
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) that would slightly improve the situation, yes
Cadair and as I say, I hope that Gitter eventually adds named bots
Cadair or that everyone stops using gitter, but I feel the former is more likely :D
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Well, if matrix-org/matrix-appservice-gitter#31 issue got fixed and those regularily writing here gave matrix oauth access to gitter, that would work too ^^
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) That would cause messages written by me to appear as if I would have written them as the gitter user @jcgruenhage :D
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 30 2017 20:14
Awesome, not gitters fault. Case closed. Now we can ban @matrixbot, when they decide to fix their shit the ban won't have any meaning anymore since once real user will be used, not @matrixbot :)
:tada:
(I'm not going to, but if everyone did it that would send a very clear signal to Matrix to FIX THEIR SHIT...)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 20:16
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Well, still gitters fault, since they don't provide proper APIs. "Their shit" works on platforms that do so ;)
Cadair yeah not everyone in the matrix channel would have a gitter account

jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) That is the slack bridge, viewed from slack.com. As you can see, my messages still get displayed with my nick and profile picture. Why can't gitter provide such an API?
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) And that needs to be enabled by a slack admin, so it doesn't bypass any authentication :)

Mar 30 2017 20:23
Cadair where is the link to the API that allows a bot to proxy as users?
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) gitter has an API to allow a user/bot to specify a picture and displayname per message? I wonder why nobody can find it then ;)
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 30 2017 20:24
Cadair: That is something that the bloody bot has to do... the API is here: https://developer.gitter.im/docs/authentication

Cadair but the model does not scale for large rooms
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) @bkcsoft The link you provided is not useful btw. What was meant was something that is useable like this Slack API, without requiring gitter accounts for everybody.

How is that useful? o.O
right, so you're still by-passing Auth... fabulous...
matrixbot

Mar 30 2017 20:34
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) So that the bridge can send messages into gitter that get displayed as a message from jcgruenhage with my profile picture without me having to log in
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) Where is that bypassing any auth?
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker

"without me having to log in" <-- bypassing. auth. :unamused:

Mar 30 2017 20:35
Cadair on a related topic, the fact that you need an account to participate in Gitter conversations is one of the reasons why I think it's not a good as it could be for open source projects. Open Source projects should be encouraging participation not requiring you to have accounts everywhere.

Yes, because everyone lives spam as much as the next guy ;)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 20:36
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) well, I wouldn't call it bypassing auth, since an admin/op would first need to accept the webhook/however gitter would implement an API like that. In addition to that, I currently am not authenticated either, so the only differences would be that the chat wouldn't look so damn ugly for you. I have no problem with that, you have :D
Cadair the admin could disable the API just as easily as they can ban matrix bot

mxmehl on Freenode strk, strk[m], here I am, asking about the OpenID authentication again ;)
mxmehl on Freenode so with the latest OpenID changes in gitea, could I define an OpenID authentication URL in the admin panel and people could login with their ID on this provider without having to register an account in the first place?

@jcgruenhage Heh, by Gitter ToS, @matrixbot should be terminated :joy:
6.1.e and 6.1.f ;)

jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) I don't think so :D

Did you read the tos? ;)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 20:50
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) The other users should be terminated, not matrixbot
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) yes
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) matrix bot neither uses an anonymising proxy, neither tries to gain unauthorised access to anything ;)
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) whatever, I need to go now, good night ^^

they provide a anonymising proxy and provides unauthorized access to gitter ;)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 21:02
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) No. They forward messages, I don't ever have access to gitter ;)

@jcgruenhage okey, 11.3

You undertake that your login may only be used by you and a login shared by multiple people is not permitted.

Cadair it relays the messages but doesn't share the login

jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) To end this once and for all: I am very sure that they have seen @matrixbot already, and if they thought it should be terminated, they would have already done that.

jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) @bkcsoft Or you could ask your boss to provide the APIs needed to run a nice bridge ;)
Kim "BKC" Carlbäcker
@bkcsoft
Mar 30 2017 21:44
As I've said many times over, the API is there :)
Thomas Boerger
@tboerger
Mar 30 2017 21:44
It will be entirely opensource by mid of the year
matrixbot
@matrixbot
Mar 30 2017 21:48
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) No, it is not there. There is a difference between a bridge and a centralised client for the users ;D
jcgruenhage (@jan.christian:gruenhage.xyz) If it is open sourced, and they accept PRs (MRs) to add this API, I'm sure someone working on the matrix bridge will be happy to implement this.

Hey guys, I'm having a really hard time understanding how to get an SSL cert setup with Gitea
I'm using Docker with Digital Oceans Docker application
I have also generated a cert from LetsEncrypt using this docker container https://github.com/Gibby/docker-letsencrypt-dns-digitalocean
I'm just not sure how to I hook up the cert with Gitea
Sterling Cobb
@fourcolors
Mar 30 2017 23:11
Basically, I don't know where to find information on how to wire up Gitea with an SSL cert
And how to tell it where my certs are

@fourcolors Caddy is the simpler way of getting SSL: https://caddyserver.com/

To setup Gitea itself to use it, take a look at the "Server" section: https://docs.gitea.io/pt-br/config-cheat-sheet/
CERT_FILE and CERT_KEY on app.ini

Mar 30 2017 23:25
is here a tutorial on using Caddy with Gitea?
Ok, I just need to edit/update my config file and I think I'll be good
Andrey Nering
@andreynering
Mar 30 2017 23:27

OK.

For Caddy you would need to use it as a reverse proxy: https://caddyserver.com/docs/proxy

so strangest thing, my app.ini file doesn't seem to reflect what is actually installed.
I wonder if there are just a lot of defaults or something that don't get added
For instance, my APP_NAME isn't set, however it still shows up when Gitea loads
this is kind of weird
Andrey Nering
@andreynering
Mar 30 2017 23:49
Most options have a default
Sterling Cobb
@fourcolors
Mar 30 2017 23:49
Ok, but how does it know my application name if that hasn't been set in the config?
Does it store it in the database or something?
So confused
Andrey Nering
@andreynering
Mar 30 2017 23:50
It should default to something like "Gitea: Git with a cup of tea"
Is this what is shown in your app?
Sterling Cobb
@fourcolors
Mar 30 2017 23:51
No, it's "Laughing Inc." which i set it to in my installation,
1__root_git___var_lib_gitea_gitea_conf__ssh_.png
This is what it generated, minus the postgres stuff, I've been trying to switch it out
I've basically changed everything under database
Andrey Nering
@andreynering
Mar 30 2017 23:54
Make sure you're editing custom/conf/app.ini and not conf/app.ini.
And that you're restarting Gitea.
Sterling Cobb
@fourcolors
Mar 30 2017 23:56
ooooooh
I don't have a custom/conf/app.ini
