Is there a way to get Go to build every new commit on a branch not only the latest?
3 replies
Even if I script something to push one new commit at a time (say, every 5 minutes), it skips some of them if the agent (I have only one at the moment) is occupied, i.e. the build takes longer than 5 minutes.

@njsaunders

Hi all - Have just upgraded from GoCD 21.4.0 to 22.1.0, and getting the following error message in go-server.log:

Error: Unable to make field private static final long java.util.HashMap.serialVersionUID accessible: module java.base does not "opens java.util" to unnamed module

Any ideas? It's our staging environment so the config file is very small (< 1000 lines)

@njsaunders
ok found it - We were overridingsystem properties in wrapper-properies.conf. As per: https://docs.gocd.org/current/installation/performance_tuning.html
2 replies
We overwrote wrapper.java.additional.2
Which in 22.1 is "--add-opens=java.base/java.util=ALL-UNNAMED"
which when removed prevents GoCD 22.4 from starting up

Time triggered pipelines with dependent/upstream pipelines - possible?
We want to solve this type of use case:
Stage pipeline deploys on every commit, prod pipeline deploys nightly on latest green commit that passed the stage pipeline. Both pipelines has the same Git repo as input material. Prod pipeline is dependent on Stage pipeline.

However, when triggered according to timer GoCD picks the latest git repo hash of the material and not the latest successful commit that ran in the stage pipeline. This is nothing that is solved by GoCD or? Has someone implemented tooling for this use case? Other ideas?

We're currently running an older GoCD version (20.1) because of various reasons (missing installers for ARM processors), but can upgrade if it helps.

Hello GoCD Community,
I am Rahul Khinchi and I want to use GoCD for my project. I just wanted to clear some doubts before integrating it. What benefit does GoCD have on automating the release process? Point to the actual step(s) that a GoCD will help to automate.

Your response is appreciated. Please reply for the same

I have a very very basic question related to pricing of GoCD, do we have any enterprise version of GoCD?
Thanks already!

Hi guys. Is it possible to get latest pipepline status with Gocd Official apis without history api? For now I've figured out that it is possible if I know pipepline_count, but I want to get latest info without knowing the counter.

@xunyao4dev
Hello, can I deploy a package(eg. myproject.jar) to the virtual machine?
marques-work
@marques-work

@xunyao4dev you can pretty much do anything in GoCD that you can on the command line.

“Deploy a jar” could mean many things. In the simplest form, it might only mean “upload the jar via SCP or HTTP POST, move the jar to a known location and start the JVM with java -jar myproject.jar. If it’s Tomcat, there are many tutorials online to use their deployment API with curl or similar tool.

@rama1227 aren’t many of these cli tools just about putting binaries in the PATH and maybe exporting some env vars?

Hello I am trying to upgrade from version 19.8.0 to 20.1.0 on a centos server, the upgrade documentation states : sudo rpm -Uvh /path/to/go-server-${version}.rpm
sudo yum upgrade go-server, but what is the path/to/go-server, is it /etc/go or /etc/default or /var/lib/go-server. In regard to version is it to be written as -${v20.1.0}.rpm or -${20.0.1}.rpm or -$20.0.1.rpm is the curly bracket needed.
marques-work
@marques-work

Hi @obyerere the path refers to wherever you downloaded the rpm package.

Omit the $ and curly braces when replacing the version.

Thus the file name would be go-server-20.1.0.rpm

marques-work
@marques-work
FYI, ${variable} is simply bash variable interpolation syntax so we replace everything from the $ to the terminal curly brace } with the value.

Hi I'm new to gocd and I'm trying to get a task set up to run a basic command. I keep getting output like in the image below. Has anyone had a similar experience and know how to fix it? If not is there a hello world style example to get people started?
image.png
marques-work
@marques-work
@tschnide exited with code 126; check file node on /usr/bin/env and make sure it has the executable bit set

If it’s not that, check for the same on /bin/bash.

Also, if neither works, make sure both of those binaries are actually correct and not a text file that was accidentally copied over it. This can happen accidentally if you’ve built an image and running in a container

Travis Schnider
@tschnide
Thanks @marques-work. I found that it was trying to target a file rather than run the command. I made a bash script file with the command in it and then it worked.

Hi everyone, good afternoon.
I'm new at GOCD world, but there is a request on our team to rotate the cipher key as a good practices routine.
How should I proceed to achieve that?
Thiago Sanches
@thiagosanches
I've tried to remove the cipher.aes and restart the server, go-cd created a new file, but it doesn't started properly.

Hello guys, I'm implementing a video processing pipeline using GoCD as my GSoC 22 project
In order to process the video we need to copy the video from the server to agent
What's the recommended way to copy those large video files from go-server to agent?

I have downloaded and extracted go-server-22.1.0-13913-osx.zip which runs fine. However all my pipelines are now lost. Where are they located? Is there a way to extract them from the previous install and copy them across to this new install?
