@truedat101
And will attempt to build the nano core stuff just to see what is all there.
Göran Krampe
@gokr
A node you mean?
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
Ok, I think I have discord
yes
Set up the node. Was looking at the source
Göran Krampe
@gokr
We run a node for all Canoes.
A backend node that is.
Since Canoe is a "light" wallet
But yeah, you can run the Desktop wallet - which is a full node in itself.
But for most regular joes - it's a waste of CPU, disk space and also mainly bandwidth
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
So "backend" meaning you have in the cloud somewhere running a headless node
Göran Krampe
@gokr
yeah
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
C++ code?
Looks good, at least under good license
Göran Krampe
@gokr
The whole Canoe backend - which is a Nano node + extra stuff - is also fully open source
So we actually have several wallets using our backend
Yes, the whole Nano project is very very "kosher"
Colin - the creator - is a really nice guy, and you can reach them all.
And the core team is really sharp - I now know several of them and... yeah, really good stuff.
They are extremely focused on tech. Which is refreshing for a crypto project.
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
Ok, I'll dig around on what you've built. I'm interested in building some "microcloud" stuff for industrial use case (i.e. environment not connected directly to Internet), so nodes would need to be operating in private network.
Thanks, yes, this is a nice find.
Thank you for the infos.
Göran Krampe
@gokr
Just ask on discord
I can explain more
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
Will do. You are gokr on discord?
Göran Krampe
@gokr
yeah
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
Ok, I think I'm truedataio. I'll hit you up later on.
Göran Krampe
@gokr
cool, cya
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
thx
gokr @gokr actually started on a port of SpryVM to Dart...
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
Interesting, and that opens a lot of doors I guess once done in Dart.
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
Reading up on this nano white paper also.
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
Honestly, nem keeps impressing me, despite being very far out of mainstream use. Getting started with the Dart later today.
Göran Krampe
@gokr
Yeah, it's interesting to know that status.im is using Nim now to implement ethereum 2.0
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
thumbs up on eth 2.0 in NIM. Do you have that code on GH?
And r u doing from scratch implementation or wrapping c/c++ libs?
Göran Krampe
@gokr
The ethereum implementation is being made by Status.im (not me) - I only know they hired several high profile Nim developers for the job
David J. Kordsmeier
@truedat101
wow - they've actually got some nim modules in development : https://github.com/status-im/ . Interesting. Trying to wrap my head around what status.im actually is doing.
mikeparr
@mikeparr
Hi all - I've just found Spry, and wondered how current it is? Is there any info on GUI stuff? Also, I use Windows - I found advice about the install on the google group, but wondered if that info is out-of-date. Thanks!
Emery Hemingway
@ehmry
can maps be iterated?
Göran Krampe
@gokr
Will see if I can get the Spry itch going again
Göran Krampe
@gokr
Hmmm, that invitation may be old, this one is eternal: https://discord.gg/mK8HZNd
So anyway, some renewed energy here! So pop in on discord, I am not that good at keeping track of gitter - but I will keep this here.
Zachary Carter
@zacharycarter
Hi @gokr !
I've been struggling with adapting NimScript for my needs (an embedded scripting language for my game) and I totally forgot about Spry - thinking about giving it a spin
Is it possible to hot reload Spry scripts from Nim?
Göran Krampe
@gokr
@zacharycarter Answer is yes, now - we moved the rest of the discussion to discord
