Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
I've added quite a bit to the wiki
Jacob Amrany
@jamra
It looks much better @bketelsen
Perhaps we can consider using Hipchat and then just implementing their APIs for integration.
Does anyone have design experience here? I'd like to create some UI mockups but I'd like to run it by others.
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
hmm that's a good idea @jamra - except we should make a generic chatter interface so people can choose slack, irc, hipchat, etc
Jacob Amrany
@jamra
Lots of people are on slack nowa days
Jacob Amrany
@jamra
Ok so I'm going to attempt to mockup based on the info from the wiki. I never used Asana so I can't really help there, so I'm hoping that I will get some feedback from you guys.
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
awesome! there are people working on the models and REST API right now
hopefully the wiki has enough information to give you a good idea of how to start. if not PING ME!
Jacob Amrany
@jamra
I hope we don't argue too much about the REST API. I'm trying to take a front end first approach because I believe it will give us more perspective when it comes to the models.
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
i hope we won't argue at all. It's all for a good cause, no need to have egos get in the way.
Jacob Amrany
@jamra
My thoughts exactly
Gautam Dey
@gdey
Hello guys, figured I introduce my self, and say I'm available to assist. I just finished reading through the wiki, and the issues. I will be positing to the issues soon, but I think concentrating first for the needs to of Gophercon (as it stands today, integrate with the tooling you guys use first.), would be a good way to narrow down the requirements, and get something out. Then we can see what the bridges need to be, and start add gateways to the other services.
Jamra, I do find having an initial mock up is good, especially if it highlight user flow.
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
welcome @gdey that's an interesting plan. I'll make a list of integrations that would be useful and we can explore the possibilities (whether they have APIs)

gitter is pretty slick :)
Gautam Dey
@gdey
I like it.
Jacob Amrany
@jamra
Hi @gdey I'll get started some time later today or tomorrow. Today is a travel day for me.
Erik St. Martin
@erikstmartin
Looks pretty active in here

@bketelsen
@erikstmartin it is!

@TheDahv
Hello! For my introduction, I’m new-ish to Go (perhaps just under a year now), but I’ve been working on web apps for years
I can definitely lend a hand on front-end work, API-level stuff, and the rest of the full-stack gamut. I’m no designer, but I’ve been working on web apps alongside designers for a while so I’m happy to lend my perspective
Jesús García Crespo
@sevein
@TheDahv similar situation here! I'm hoping this to be a good learning experience for me while I try to help
Welcome!
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
awesome! thanks everyone for jumping in
we should have a rough-in framework in a day or two for us to all start adding features to
David Pierce
@TheDahv
Thanks :) For anybody who is going to spend significant time on the front-end, it will be interesting to see what we land on. I’ve not seen firm leading opinions on building web apps with Go
Jesús García Crespo
@sevein
@bketelsen Currently we have two chat rooms, this one and the one in gophers.slack.com, it's a bit confusing don't you think?
go-kit was using gitter but they finally moved to slack btw
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
it is
maybe we should kill this one
David Pierce
@TheDahv
I’ve taken to the following paradigm on my personal apps: “API’s and back-end concerns in Go. Serve templates and static assets with Go. Use Node.js build tools for front-end stuff in another folder or another project entirely."
Jesús García Crespo
@sevein
@bketelsen see go-kit/kit#40
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
is everyone here on the slack channel too?
Jesús García Crespo
@sevein
I like gitter because it's just one click away for newcomers, but gophers.slack.com seems the best way for gophers
13 of 21 members online in slack, 3 of 20 here
David Pierce
@TheDahv
I haven’t used it for active development before, but seeing as it has tight GitHub integration and this group is intended for development coordination, it seems to make sense
Rather, I’d be interested in exploring what Gitter can do
But, I also use Slack and hang out in the gophers group
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
i like the gitter integration with github, it's very nice
but I agree having 2 is confusing
Norbert Fuhs
@nfuhs
where is the slack room?
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
after joining, join the #congo channel
David Pierce
@TheDahv
Shall I close Gitter, then? :)
Brian Ketelsen
@bketelsen
yes - if nobody else is active in here - Please see history, join gopher slack, #congo room
David Pierce
@TheDahv
Great! Thanks
Jesús García Crespo
@sevein
bye bye
