@m0ar: yes, I'd also be very interested in hearing/seeing a talk on your work with linear types.
BTW, the blog is very good
magthe @magthe has just quit his job :)

argh! doesn't CPP stringification work when using the CPP language extension in ghc?

@magthe what was the stringification thing again?

@ocramz: https://stackoverflow.com/q/45976083/34996 and now I've written down my solution to it too

^ Scala makes me groan
now we're arguing internally about code conventions, since I'd rather not use overloaded methods and implicit parameters
and my colleague went full OOP so code review is a bit of a circus

Scala is a good ground for bait-and-switch FP to OOP :p
the other direction is also possible but the equilibrium is unstable

thing is that multi-paradigm language means that there will be multiple styles within the codebase

aren't implicit parameters a bit like implicit assumptions... simply a bad idea?

A conversation we just had in the office:
me: they set the bar this hig, while our bar is down here
mate: I don't think we can find something that only satisfies our requirements though
me: no, that product wouldn't sell, no one has ever aimed as low as us

damn that's not the spirit @magthe
btw we " lost" 2 more backend guys out of 4, release due dec.15, fun times ahead
backend is in C# so I wouldn't know
if I had my way I could probably rewrite it in haskell alone in a month

@ocramz: aren't C# devs sort of lost already? ;)

@m0ar I'd like a presentation of linear types!

I think the Clojure-on-.net is in better shape now than when I had a look a few years back... maybe a gradual rewrite?
otherwise you have a few months until mid-December... 2 extra hours of work per day and a weekend or two quickly adds up to a month ;)
