    I am doing su <admin_username> -c "./grafana-server"
    KT819GM
    @KT819GM
    Moment, will try to install on Catalina with homebrew now
    KT819GM
    @KT819GM
    ok, so it starts and works perfectly when started with brew services start grafana and for runninng directly from terminal seems it need to to be launched with all configs pointed:
    grafana-server --config=/usr/local/etc/grafana/grafana.ini --homepath /usr/local/share/grafana --packaging=brew cfg:default.paths.logs=/usr/local/var/log/grafana cfg:default.paths.data=/usr/local/var/lib/grafana cfg:default.paths.plugins=/usr/local/var/lib/grafana/plugins
    brew stated it after install.
    Albert Hives
    @ahives
    so if you use the brew command you can navigate to localhost:3000?
    KT819GM
    @KT819GM
    sure
    Albert Hives
    @ahives
    for some reason I cannot, which is why I was exploring the shell command
    KT819GM
    @KT819GM
    check your install log from brew - it will give you exact comand to start manually, like I posted higher
    text after install (full) -
    To have launchd start grafana now and restart at login: brew services start grafana Or, if you don't want/need a background service you can just run: grafana-server --config=/usr/local/etc/grafana/grafana.ini --homepath /usr/local/share/grafana --packaging=brew cfg:default.paths.logs=/usr/local/var/log/grafana cfg:default.paths.data=/usr/local/var/lib/grafana cfg:default.paths.plugins=/usr/local/var/lib/grafana/plugins
    also maybe your 3000 port is used by something else
    Albert Hives
    @ahives
    let me try changing the default port and see
    Albert Hives
    @ahives
    I run that command and get different error
    "Failed to start grafana. error: failed to create log directory "/var/log/grafana": mkdir /var/log/grafana: permission denied"
    Albert Hives
    @ahives
    the weird thing is that this dir has already been created as part of the install
    KT819GM
    @KT819GM
    so something with permisions seems, maybe brew failed on something, make uninstall / install again and check for errors
    Albert Hives
    @ahives
    so, I totally got this working on my personal laptop that doesn't have all of the corporate security software via running the brew command in seconds
    literally was up and running inside of a minute thanks to gigabit fiber at home :)
    and your help
    thanks
    KT819GM
    @KT819GM
    Ah yes, corporate 🤣 have fun

    Chevdor / Will I may be out of topic but in general, I would suggest using docker. This way the mac/homebrew stuff is out of the way. You can share your docker command and anyone (using mac, linux, etc...) can try to help.
    Albert Hives
    @ahives
    hmm
    let me try that
    will also force me to explore Docker more as well
    thanks for the recommendation
    I just logged in for the first time and this thing is so sweet
    Nice job on the UI fellas

    Chevdor / Will I followed the doc and issued:

    docker run -d -p 3000:3000 grafana/grafana

    it took around 15s and I have a running grafana on htpp://localhost:3000

    Chevdor / Will * I followed the doc and issued:

    docker run -d -p 3000:3000 grafana/grafana

    it took around 15s and I have a running grafana on http://localhost:3000

    Chevdor / Will * I followed the doc and issued:

    docker run -d -p 3000:3000 grafana/grafana

    it took around 15s and I have a running grafana on http://localhost:3000
    (I have a Mac as well)

    @KT819GM
    Let’s hope corporate will not interfere with installing docker itself 🤣🤣

    Chevdor / Will Did you try the command above ?

    Hi. I am trying to use the Promtail helm chart and I want to define a pipeline in a file values.yaml. My output logs are already json lines. What I can see in grafana is the following: 2020-02-07 18:12:52 2020-02-07T18:12:52.411673973+02:00 stdout F {"@timestamp":"2020-02-07T16:12:52.411Z","@version":"1","message":"Bought a new car","logger_name":"semantic.logging.SampleBean","thread_name":"pool-1-thread-11","level":"INFO","level_value":20000,"operation":"acquisition","tags":["TOYOTA","CARS","ASSETS"]}. I want to cut "2020-02-07T18:12:52.411673973+02:00 stdout F". What should the pipelineStages value be in this case?

    I want to be able to see expanded the labels: tags and operations. How can I achieve this?
    Radu Crisan
    @raducrisan1
    seems that no matter of what I define in pipelineStages, it is ignored. The logs look like in the screen above.
    Radu Crisan
    @raducrisan1
    my scenario is very simple. my pods are writing json lines. I want to use promtail to get these lines and send them to loki as they are. Afterwards I want from Grafana to filter the logs based on labels that are the same as the json element names. is this scenario possible? As deployment, I have chosen the helm charts from 'https://github.com/grafana/loki/tree/master/production/helm'

    Hi

    Is there any way/plugin to scrap k8s cluster details from k8s mertric-api server into Grafana dashboard?

    Toussa hello :)
    Some of you tried the simple-app-plugin with grafana 6.6.1 ? I have an angular error "unknown provider" when trying to display a React Page... That's weird

    Hi everyone! The second Grafana community call has been announced for Feb 25th at 16:00 (UTC). Like the last time, the agenda will be anything you’d like to discuss around Grafana development, e.g. upcoming or existing features, roadmap, or open issues/PRs. We’ll have several Grafana maintainers joining to answer any questions you might have. We’ll be posting the Zoom link in the GitHub issue closer to the event, so make sure to subscribe to it for any updates.
