@lackita
Just had an idea for a meetup, "How to make ethernet cables"
Any interest?
Tony Bargnesi
@abargnesi
Sounds intriguing. I've done cat5 wiring before (crimping, patch panel, etc), but never this. I'm interested.
lackita
@lackita
ok, that's actually all I meant, what did you think I meant?
Tony Bargnesi
@abargnesi
i thought you meant stringing the ethernet wires
either way i'm interested, i would like to no more about ethernet pinouts
lackita
@lackita
ah, I might be able to figure that out, although no experience going that far
Tony Bargnesi
@abargnesi
sounds cool, I actually need to do this in my house now, so it might motivate me!
John Nadeau
@johnnadeau
@abargnesi don't know if you're aware of this vim command: C-w o focus a single window (close others)
lackita
@lackita
Ah, you mean C-x 1 in emacs
John Nadeau
@johnnadeau
Lol
lackita
@lackita
and yes, I had that memorized
Tony Bargnesi
@abargnesi
hey @lackita do you want to present on the Dec. 7 meetup?
I remember you had a couple ideas brewing.
lackita
@lackita
@abargnesi Yeah, I think I could have something prepared. I'll try to have a PR up on the github repo by the middle of next week on what I'm thinking of.
Tony Bargnesi
@abargnesi
Awesome! Thanks.
John Nadeau
@johnnadeau
@lackita we want to announce the December 7th meetup before/around Thanksgiving, can you confirm you'll be ready to do the talk?
lackita
@lackita
Yeah, I'll try to write a description up tomorrow
Title is "Design Inflection Points". Tomorrow's goal is the description.
Tony Bargnesi
@abargnesi
Sounds intriguing
John Nadeau
@johnnadeau
@lackita I added you as a host for the meetup so you'll be able to modify it to include your description when you're ready
After that we'll announce publicly
lackita
@lackita
Alright, I'll let you know when I put it up
lackita
@lackita
@johnnadeau The description is all set. Feel free to announce whenever.

I've got my Extended Mind prototype thingie up on GitHub. It's useful to me,although I'd want to rewrite it in something else.I'm curious what others think of it:

I know we were chatting about text editors/IDEs last night. Stack Overflow just released the 2017 survey they do.
Top 5 Development Environments for Web Developers
Visual Studio, Notepad++, Sublime Text, Vim, Visual Studio Code
Worth noting, that Sublime, Vim, and VS Code are all cross platform(Windows/macOS/Linux. Vim and VS Code are also Free and Open Source.
John Nadeau
@johnnadeau
You'll find some other cool stuff in that survey as well. Languages, frameworks, salaries, etc.
