@ramkrsna Hi and welcome!

Hi *
Ramakrishna Reddy Y
@ramkrsna
Just an observation , the release 5 has an earlier release date than the release 4 https://github.com/heketi/heketi/milestones
Ramakrishna Reddy Y
@ramkrsna
I assume its just a place holder
Luis Pabón
@lpabon
@ramkrsna good point, I'll change that
Ramakrishna Reddy Y
@ramkrsna
Hey @lpabon How does one become a collaborator on https://waffle.io/heketi/heketi I have been trying to update a card
Michael Adam
@obnoxxx
Not entirely sure if we do this kind of discussion here or on some mailing list, but this forum seems to come closest to an upstream mailing list... So: For your all info. I extended the development-guide https://github.com/heketi/heketi/wiki/Development-Guide to contain more detailed instructions on how to run the unit tests.
@ramkrsna - I think I figured it out fully. Please verify... :-)
Michael Adam
@obnoxxx
Update No. 2: I added some hits for debugging failures of unit tests to the https://github.com/heketi/heketi/wiki/Development-Guide. Thanks @lpabon for the hints! Worked great for me.
Luis Pabón
@lpabon
@ramkrsna Hi, all data is grabbed from the issues. You can update a card by updating the issues.
@obnoxxx awesome! Thanks!
Ramakrishna Reddy Y
@ramkrsna
@lpabon yup

Hi guys! Evryone has a good tutorial how can I use heketi with kubernetes? On the wiki site I didn't find exactly how can I use them together.
Ramakrishna Reddy Y
@ramkrsna
@aga20 There is a blog post written by @lpabon , it uses minikube http://www.g33knotes.org/2016/09/testing-glusterheketi-dynamic.html
but the gist of it applies to kubernetes too
openshift inherits the kube namespaces , I have not tried the latter
but the former with minikubes works
Sandor Szombat
@aga20
@ramkrsna Thank you! I will check your links :)

@aga20
Another question: heketi can run pod or I have to run a glusterfs pod?
Luis Pabón
@lpabon
@aga20 i'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean does Heketi start glusterfs pods? If so, no. The administrator must start the glusterfs pods.
Sandor Szombat
@aga20
@lpabon Thanks for your answer! Yes, I mean this. And in this case what should I write in the topology.json? The pod name? And in the pod file need any extra parameter, etc...?
Luis Pabón
@lpabon
@aga20 there should be a sample topology.json file in /usr/share/heketi. Also not the pod name is used, but the node name as shown in kubectl get nodes
Sandor Szombat
@aga20
Thanks for the link, I will check it! So if I understand you I have to define in the topology.json the kubernetes node names where I have a glusterfs pods? For example I have 3 storage (st1,st2,st3) nodes and 1 o&m node, I have 3 glusterfs pods on storage nodes, so I have to write st1 st2 st3 values into the topology.json?
Luis Pabón
@lpabon
if st1, st2, and st3 are the names shown on kubctl get nodes, then those are the names that should be added to the topology.json file under the manage section.
Sandor Szombat
@aga20
Oh, great! Thanks! I will try it later today :) Many thanks for your help! :)
Sandor Szombat
@aga20
@lpabon Hi! It worked, thanks!

Hi guys,

I'm having some trouble connecting to a node when loading a topology.

My heketi config is using the ssh executor, with a key provided.

In my topology, I have 2 nodes already setup and they are loaded and running. When I added the 3rd node, with the heketi_key.pub added as the authorized_keys, and loaded the new topology, I get a "ssh handshake failed, unable to authenticate" error.

This is despite being able to ssh to it directly using the heketi_key and root user.

@KingJ
Hi there, potentially silly question. Is the latest version of the Heketi server v2.0 RC3? All the releases on the Github page after that seem to be just the client.
Adam Stankiewicz
@sheerun
latest patch release isn't available as well..

Hey, i just deployed gluster&heketi on kubernetes but i get an error when i try to create the heketi db:
heketi-cli setup-openshift-heketi-storage
Error: Unable to execute command on glusterfs-7h97p: volume create: heketidbstorage: failed: Commit failed on localhost. Please check the log file for more details.

Checking the glusterfs logs under /var/log/var/log/glusterfs/etc-glusterfs-glusterd.vol.log results in:

Does someone has an idea what i could check?
heketi-cli --version

@Promaethius
Can heketi manage multipath devices? /dev/mapper/volume-XXXXXX
Tomasz Kontusz
@ktosiek
Hi! Can I use heketi with a single dedicated partition? I'm setting a demo k8s cluster on some scrap servers, and don't have a second disk
also, is the partitioning scheme described anywhere? Is it just making an LVM VG for all of the volumes to live on?
Tomasz Kontusz
@ktosiek
also, can Heketi run with only 2 nodes? Or 2 actual storage nodes and some kind of arbiter?
Luis Pabón
@lpabon
@ktosiek Hi, the issue is not really Heketi, but GlusterFS. You can use a single partition on a single node (I have never tried it myself). Just make sure to use the API or the cli and create a volume with no replicas. You can also run it with two nodes, and again you will have to use the API or the CLI to create a replica 2 volume.
@Promaethius I have never used those or tested, so I am not sure. Please let us know if you have any information on that.

Hi. Can somebody help with external heketi+glusterfs and openshift-ansble?
Rok Ajdnik
@ajdnik

Hi guys, I’m having a problem, when I run heketi-cli cluster create I get Error: {"clusters":[]}. I don’t know why this happens. Heketi server logs report:

[negroni] Started GET /clusters
[negroni] Completed 200 OK in 48.3µs

The server is v5.0.1 (heketi/heketi:5 docker image) and the cli is also v5.0.1.
