this is a very brave and right initiative @npiganeau !! i really wish you best of luck.
On the point of attracting community, i think if you could make it possible to write UI in react/vue or any other famous frontend frameworks i think community will come.
And in order to do that what you could really do different from Odoo is
1- to offer a very stable rest API interface to Odoo core(Hexya i meant) written in Go.
2- provide a good support for component-rich rapid form/reports development libraries like react-admin (which can also be extended to meet Hexya requirements, if required). As for my case, i am running odoo for couple of clients but i am looking or more UX flexibility which Odoo doesn't provide.
    3- provide a good support for a reporting/KPI frameworks.

And this wonderful project will attract more users. Your in depth kn

This is my humble 2 cents, i am by no means expert in any of above or in enterprise applications.

Hello @maqsoodlabs , and thanks for your interest in Hexya.
Many people have suggestions for changing the UI. Some want to switch to a famous frontend, like you while others want to switch to experimental frameworks like vugu to have the whole stack written in Go.
On my side, I have almost no knowledge of frontend development, so my first interest in Odoo (and thus Hexya) is to be able to code business web applications without having to know or do anything in JS/CSS/HTML. And I think Odoo is quite good at this. It is also at the heart of my job: since I don't code the UI, I spend less time and can sell very competitive developments.
That being said, Hexya is a fully open framework. And unlike Odoo, The web UI is completely isolated in the "web" module.
The core is client-agnostic, and the "web" module is only the default client (which happens to be Odoo webclient, almost untouched).

So creating a new client from a famous framework is just a matter of creating a new Hexya module that will do just that.
This module would implement the REST controllers and the client side JS framework that other business modules would use.
That is not in my personal roadmap, as this would be a long job and I do not have the skills for that.
But anybody motivated could do it, I would be very happy to discuss the interface.
And the beauty of Hexya (just like Odoo) is that it can be done without touching a single line of the core.

    Online demo https://demo.hexya.io/web/ broken again.
Local installation of hexya-demo also broken with js errors. I had post it hexya-addons/web#8

What is the next step in the project? Ready to support odoo14?

Just 'discovered' Hexya after having worked with Odoo for a while. I've read the blogs and, in general, agree with the assessment of Odoo strengths and weaknesses. As I'm very much a beginner with golang, is there any sort of a 'getting started' guide?
