just a heads up - just merged in DTLS work, so you’ll need GnuTLS on your machines for build to work
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 17:54
take a look at BUILD.md in the repo for instructions on how to get GnuTLS for your environment

@birarda thanks! I feel more secure now.

lib /def:libgnutls-28.def results in windows saying that lib is not recognized as an internal or external command...

@murillodigital
Apr 14 2014 18:50
@FearghusMcMahon are you running that from VS command prompt?
or from a plain-old cmd?
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 18:51
oh, plain old cmd
i'll try the other one
Tony Hagale
@thagale
Apr 14 2014 18:51
FWIW, on MacOS I just brew install'ed gnutls and my new build worked like a champ
Leonardo Murillo
@murillodigital
Apr 14 2014 18:51
@thagale can you do me a favor
and try to connect to hq.highfidelity.io
Tony Hagale
@thagale
Apr 14 2014 18:52
sure (though i'm on really crappy internet at a hospital right now)
let me try
Leonardo Murillo
@murillodigital
Apr 14 2014 18:52
with that championing build pls?
Tony Hagale
@thagale
Apr 14 2014 18:53
it connected and gave me UUID, but all my bandwidths are 0 (though that could be the shoddy wifi here)
though the fact that everything is truly flat at zero leads me to believe it's not just the wifi
(with the old build about 30m ago things were working fine)
Konstantin
@SydoxX
Apr 14 2014 18:54
Servers: 0 and no UUID. But for me all hifi.io servers are down
Leonardo Murillo
@murillodigital
Apr 14 2014 18:56
ok thnxyeah something fracked for sure
Tony Hagale
@thagale
Apr 14 2014 18:56
also: it's not just the hifi.io servers. i see the same behavior connecting to my home domain, which i haven't rebuilt with gnutls, yet
Leonardo Murillo
@murillodigital
Apr 14 2014 18:56
:P
on it

vs command prompt did the trick......windows build running now......next up...osx

Apr 14 2014 19:17
hmmm 0 uuid, 0 servers and no chat connection...on win7 64bit and on 0sx maverick
Konstantin
@SydoxX
Apr 14 2014 19:17
Try thoys.nl
Thijs Wenker
@thoys
Apr 14 2014 19:17
thoys.nl isnt build with dtls yet :P
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 19:18
none of the servers will actually be using DTLS yet
but the protocols have changed
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 19:20
hmmm looks like i suddenly have an uuid now on alpha and see 3 servers
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 19:21
I saw you in alpha, yeah
leo has been re-deploying servers
we should be good now
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 19:22
yeah chat works too
redeploying servers you say.....so that explains why all the landscapes and builds are gone
Leonardo Murillo
@murillodigital
Apr 14 2014 19:25
that shouldnt be the case
voxel files have been untouched
@birarda anything on the new protocol that could be affecting voxel content “delivery"
Konstantin
@SydoxX
Apr 14 2014 19:25
No landscape here either
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 19:25
I only have three servers in alpha
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 19:25
both the mac as the win viewer show nothing for me
Leonardo Murillo
@murillodigital
Apr 14 2014 19:25
ahh ok so voxel servers could be trouble
one sec
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 19:26
yeah @murillodigital it’s not assigned
Thijs Wenker
@thoys
Apr 14 2014 19:26
the inhabitants of the strip wont be happy when they come home
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 19:46
stand by - fix on the way, content is safe
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 19:48
@birarda do you know if the land generation script you guys used is also open source?
and jup....land just came back up
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 19:49
it’s not but no reason it couldn’t be
let me gist it
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 19:49
cool....thanks!
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 19:50
do you want the exact one used for alpha landscape or just something you can work off of
Ryan tweaked the one I started a while ago, that’s what was used for alpha
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 19:50
something that generates a landscape would be a nice start :)
there you go
Thijs Wenker
@thoys
Apr 14 2014 19:54
@birarda awesome
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 19:54
cool thanks
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 20:16
awesome.....cool to see land being generated
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 20:16
yeah, by the way - run that from your interface client
if run as an assignment-client it won’t generate the landscape because it fills up the queue of voxels too quickly
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 20:17
hmmm actually thats whati just did
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 20:17
assignment-client or interface?
it may work with the assignment-client but I believe there’s a race condition there
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 20:17
assignment client
it looks like it filled about a quarter of the space
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 20:19
yeah, there are params in the script to say how much you want to fill
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 20:20
nice...will play around with it :)
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 21:43
question, can i put a line in the script that once it ran it also kills itself?
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 21:43
yes
I belive
believe*
Agent.stop()
is what you want
but I’ll double check
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 21:45
thanks, was looking at the Javascript-API page on the wiki but didn't see it there
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 21:45
Script.stop()
should stop the execution
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 21:45
thanks, will try that
Konstantin
@SydoxX
Apr 14 2014 21:55
How can you set your home?
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 21:58
Don't think you can yet
@birarda the setVoxels function.....the coords you give there is it suppose to be the centre of the voxel or a corner?
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 22:00
corner
I believe
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 22:01
I thought so too...but it seems that it not always does it then...weird
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 22:12
well - it has to hit a boundary
so depending on the scale you give you may not actually be able to create a voxel there
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 22:13
will it then "jump" to the nearest place where it can place it?
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 22:19
https://gist.github.com/FearghusMcMahon/10686766 this is simply what i did in an empty domain
Stephen Birarda
@birarda
Apr 14 2014 22:20
I don’t know how it decides what the best alternative corner is
but I assume that’s what it does - @ZappoMan could speak more to how that works
FearghusMcMahon
@FearghusMcMahon
Apr 14 2014 22:25
ok, thanks will ask about that another time :)
