hmm getting a lot of "error downloading sound file... " in console = no sounds inworld atm and chat not logging in on the new win build - i guess router/port issue?

the chat logging in is a known issue @Lhasamencur fix should be available by tomorrow
the sounds issue thats a new one

it basically seems as if its not being allowed to fetch the resources from server for some reason

those resources are publically stored on S3
can you try to load this on your browser:

I did a compile on the interface but I dont see anything in it or the commits for packaging, like nsis, you guys gonna push soon or did I miss it?

@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 16:14
todays update to interface seems to have resolved it :)

alot of packet hash mismatch errors on voxel creation now though with dropouts every 20 seconds or so

@ZappoMan a real world equivalent of something along the lines of what I was picturing as an initial test once those are exposed designingsound.org/2014/03/space-replay/
with the potential to store those within a voxel itself and recall/playback inworld - a rudimentary virtual sampler as it were - could open up alot of cool feedback systems

Hey guys. For the JavaScript API where would we find info on that? I am attempting to access things like knowing when an avatar is walking etc.

Does the windows installer already add a custum url protocol to the registry?

I tried to run it in win7.1. some of the files (.dll) were mismatched. I appeared to have newer files. so I renamed the files to backup and got an interface gui. now I need to know if win8.1 works because I was going to build a system with win8.1. or should I keep it at win7.1 or win8.0.

Apr 25 2014 19:13
@bristle2008 I'll try to let you know this weekend, win8.1 has a problem if its build with vc2010, trying to get a vc2013 build by this weekend
Bristle
@bristle2008
Apr 25 2014 19:22
@thoys thanks. if it doesn't build with vc2013, I could keep one of my system to win7.1 or win8.0. i haven't built a HiFi yet from sources (i am too chicken yet).

I think there will be a fix for this very soon. So it's your choice.

@SydoxX I will wait for a few days. I can log in with HiFi with my win7.1 and I can log in with UE4 with my laptop.

win b477 giving "uncaught exception at line 6: Syntax error Parse error
Clément Brisset
@Atlante45
Apr 25 2014 21:28
that comes from a script
Do you have any scripts running ?
@Lhasamencur ^
Lhasamencur
@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 21:29
hmmm shouldnt , gonna stop scripts and relog
ok those errors have been replaced by "ignoring unreasonable packet" messages
and voxel editor ui gone
odd as i didnt change anything since b475 just updated

Apr 25 2014 21:41
Uh, weird, @ZappoMan did you see @Lhasamencur’s previous post.
@Lhasamencur what OS are you running ?
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Apr 25 2014 21:43
seems unlikely to be related to scripts
@Lhasamencur if you could include the entire message you're seeing, would be interesting, did it say something about flight time or sequence number
Clément Brisset
@Atlante45
Apr 25 2014 21:46
Yeah no definitely not tied to script, it was just buried under the syntax error I think
But still, that shouldn’t be.
@Lhasamencur there definitely is a problem with one of the script you were running.
Can you also send me a list of those and tell me if you were running any custom ones ?

Already known that the update dialog is a little bit out of proportions on windows?

Lhasamencur

was running no scripts (consciously) and as @ZappoMan said rightly - it does say flight time

We fixed that bug this morning, but looks like there might still be some issues left on Windows.
Are you able to reproduce? If so, can you send a screenshot of the log?

@CDainMiller, not all state of the avatar is exposed to JS yet.
I just finished a project that was merged today that exposes a few things such as the collisionGroup settings and whether or not to "obey gravity".

@AndrewMeadows
Apr 25 2014 23:29
I'm in the middle of a larger project to make the avatar controllable via script.
there is a new example script called swissArmyJetpack.js that I wrote to test these initial features
but it is a bit ugly atm, and only a few things are done

I've already got an updated version in my sandbox
Lhasamencur
@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 23:31
just updated to latest build - get these on login (and no UI still) @Atlante45
Andrew Meadows
@AndrewMeadows
Apr 25 2014 23:31
but what I wanted to get at @CDainMiller is that if you need a particular property of the avatar exposed just let me know what it is. It might be very easy to add to JS.
BTW, while trying to make cleaner JS code for a new version of the jetpack I found the Overlay stuff didn't quite have all the features I wanted so I'm sidetracked to see if I can enhance that system for what I want.
Dain Miller
@dainmiller
Apr 25 2014 23:34
well, the reason I asked is because I noticed this job: https://worklist.net/19527 and it requires "When my avatar is moving and voxels are beneath it's feet, write a script that correctly plants the feet without slipping and walks/runs along.". So I figured there would be some JS API I could tie into to first of all just tell if the Avatar is walking. Starting at like 0 knowledge here so trying to reason about this from the bottom up
*0 knowledge of the avatar design/implementation

Apr 25 2014 23:35
@Lhasamencur The reason you have no UI is probably because you killied the scripts earlier. (File > running script) should be empty. I suggest you go to (File > load script form URL) and type that address
Concerning The flight time problem, this number suggests the packet was sent at 0 (REF_TIME) from the server. cc @ZappoMan
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Apr 25 2014 23:38
@Atlante45 - I agree… looks like a problem with REF_TIME… did you test your newest code on windows? ;)
Andrew Meadows
@AndrewMeadows
Apr 25 2014 23:38
I see @CDainMiller. That worklist job might actually be possible to do now, or soon.
although... it requires the JS to do some inverse kinematics on the leg joints
I'm pretty sure the joint rotations or angles are exposed to JS but don't yet know if the joint lengths and world (or local) positions are exposed yet. I'll look at the code now.
Lhasamencur
@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 23:43
@ZappoMan dont know if related - but my ui sounds only come through very intermittently (1 in 8 times or so)
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Apr 25 2014 23:44
The message you're seeing is only saying that it's ignoring the packet (voxels or particles) for the purpose of calculating stats… it shouldn't have anything to do with audio….
however… these may be symptoms of some other problem.
Lhasamencur
@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 23:44
or come through very distorted/partially

int flightTime = arrivedAt - sentAt + nodeClockSkewUsec;
Either sentAt is wrong (0), or nodeClockSkewUsec is way too big.

and a volley of these every 60 seconds or so
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Apr 25 2014 23:49
that would explain your bad audio… those are audio packets related
it seems to me it could be...
1) old build

Brad Hefta-Gaub

Apr 25 2014 23:50
2) something going wrong with login/authentication
Lhasamencur
@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 23:54
just noticed (in the windowframe where login name and ID is shown) every time the packet errors come through my name and ID login goes to 000000
and then back again
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Apr 25 2014 23:55
@Lhasamencur can you pull up your "Voxels and Particles Statistics" and see what it says about "clock skew"
yeah - that's definitely a problem
@birarda - would probably be interested in hearing about the login name/ID switching back and forth/to/from 000000 - that doesn't sound right.
Lhasamencur
@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 23:57
in the voxel and particles stats sending mode goes to unstable during those moments too and i loose all 6 voxel servers
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Apr 25 2014 23:58
@Lhasamencur - yes -that would be expected… you're getting "logged out of the domain"...
Lhasamencur
@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 23:58
cant see anything about clock skew ?
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Apr 25 2014 23:59
I mean, it's not expected that you're getting logged out… but basically when you get logged out you will not be able to decode packets from servers.
Lhasamencur
@Lhasamencur
Apr 25 2014 23:59
yeah
