Well, good news: I managed to build successfully with VS2013 Express. Bad news: interface.exe triggers debug asserts on startup and never brings up the interface. A kind of progress I suppose...
might be because I don't have a microphone or webcam plugged in?

not having a mic plugged in was mentioned as a crash causer in forum thread.. I'm guessing it doesn't get a valid input device and bails (ran into this on another sound processing application0

are there instructions for getting Qxmpp working on windows/VS2013?
their github page has a worrying reference to vs2008...

Do you have a beginning of log you could dump here?

There were only build instructions listed on the Qxmpp github page, but nothing in hifi/BUILD.md about how to get cmake to pick it up. I'm not familiar with cmake so I didn't want to hose my system

Never actually installed QXmpp for a windows build.
But this library is optionnal I’m pretty sure, are you sure that’s what’s causing the crash?

the qxmpp question was unrelated to the crash. it's sort of a vague spot in the build instructions

Oh ok.
Yeah I know for sure some people got it working on windows. Not sure how they got there though.
Hopefully one of them will the those posts and answer in the coming days ^^

hmm.. my best guess is that you'd build it, but instead of installing it, you'd put the built binaries into the lib directory with the rest of the third party deps? Anyway, thanks for the info, I'll look up that forum post about the mic issue and I'll try again tomorrow with my mic plugged in (it's at work now)

@JeroMiya Yep, that is how I was able to get it to work on Windows
Built it and put the binaries in my hifi libs path

Hi
I had to staticly link qxmpp to get it to work with hifi. Works fine.

I'm looking to check in my script for https://worklist.net/19970 I need somewhere to host the overlay and various other assets for the script - do we have access to aws?

@murillodigital - thanks, will do. Was just trying out on my server, have just found a problem with remote loading of js files, need to fix that now. Will get back to you when I've fixed it. Cheers - Dave

This is really odd - my script downloads images and other scripts from localhost, no problem. But if I try to load them from my remote server they won't load properly - I just get a white block for the images. If I try to load up the js files, Interface tells me they all have script errors - even though the same ones work fine when hosted on my localhost. Here's one of the images that shows as a white block - it's definitely where I think it is! http://highfidelity.davedub.co.uk/overlays/walkScript/ddao-background-edit-joints.png Any ideas anyone?

do you have a URL for one of the files on your remote server?

@DaveDubUK Looks like your server is returning a 406
It doesn't look like interface sends an Accept/Accept-Type header, so that is probably why. It would either need to be fixed in interface or update your nginx config to ignore it (not sure if that's doable or nto)
(if that is indeed the issue)

nice one @huffman - well, I have no need to host them on my server, I was just testing it out before I commit anything. Presumably, amazon aws hosted files don't have that problem - would that be correct?

Yeah, it doesn't seem to be an issue on s3
