@ZappoMan thanks. Could you let me know when that gets checked in? I'll redo the TS port from the updated sample.
Are any other samples out of date like animatedModelExample?

It looks like audioReflectorTools.js may have some typos, e.g. echoesMminThumbX I think should be echoesMinThumbX. This same typo is repeated with multiple variables though, so I was confused. Those variables are not defined anywhere, so best guess it's just a typo
heh, if you ever want to find bugs in your JavaScript code, just try porting it to TypeScript. Seems to work really well

Might be nice to have example tests in the build process. That verifies if all the Javascripts are still up to date.

@whatSocks Could well be Interface not coping with some setting in your interface.ini. ... Try renaming or deleting interface.ini so that you create a fresh copy next time you run Interface.

@ZappoMan @birarda do you guys think entities should all have a name property, or is that countering hifi's philosofy ?

@ZappoMan

actually @thoys - I was just suggesting we add this early this weekend

Sep 29 2014 19:23
it would just be a convinience for editing and possibly scripting
it would be more like an “alias” or a “nickname"
Thijs Wenker
@thoys
Sep 29 2014 19:24
yeh true, I was adding a list function to the edit model script, so it crossed my mind
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Sep 29 2014 19:24
yes - that’s exactly where it would be used
btw - I’m in the process of adding a bunch of new features to editModels.js — so we may be stepping on each other… who ever get’s their PR in first will have an easier time. ;)

The creatorTokenID for entities, does it ever change? I've switched account and created something new, both users have the same creatorTokenID ?
Thijs Wenker
@thoys
Sep 29 2014 20:33
Ah they're all set to Max Int
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Sep 29 2014 21:26
@thoys - you really shouldn't be worrying about that value -- that should be opaque to you
but -- it starts out at 0 for YOUR session... and only changes for entities you create in your session
but for entities you didn't create in that session - it will always be max unint32
whatSocks
@whatSocks
Sep 29 2014 21:27
if I leave and come back, what is the value?
Thijs Wenker
@thoys
Sep 29 2014 21:27
ah oke, 0xFFFFFFF @whatSocks
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Sep 29 2014 21:27
you REALLY SHOULDN'T be documenting that
that can change - this is an internal value

the tokenID ?

the creatorTokenID concept... will likely go away completely
whatSocks
@whatSocks
Sep 29 2014 21:28
hah good thing I didn’t spend a lot of time trying to use it in an example
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Sep 29 2014 21:29
all examples should only operate on EntityItemID's
they are returned by Entities.addEntity() and Entities.identifyEntity() and other search operations like ray pick or search in radius...
Thijs Wenker
@thoys
Sep 29 2014 21:30
Will Entities get CreatorID's attached and be publicly visible? or will it be hidden for identity hiding?
whatSocks
@whatSocks
Sep 29 2014 21:30
alright when I go back to edit my current documentation I’ll remove them
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Sep 29 2014 21:30
creator ids are only currently meaningful to the instance that created them... they are totally meaningless in any other context
there is no persistence to them they are completely ephemeral
Thijs Wenker
@thoys
Sep 29 2014 21:32
Yes, I don't mean the current ones, but I mean, will there be a way in the future to attach an entity to an account?
Brad Hefta-Gaub
@ZappoMan
Sep 29 2014 21:32
and more importantly --- they "creation" mechanism by which the ID is assigned by the server may be changing in the future...
@thoys - the creatorTokenIDs do not currently have anything to do with who created the entity.... I think you're asking for something more akin to "owner" or "creator" - that identifies ownership of the entity
we do plan to build some mechanisms for that. But we're not at that stage in development now/yet.
