Why would not being able to contact an ICE server block the GUI from loading with Interface on Windows? Scenario - isolated setup with no Inet connection - Interface working solely on LAN with local stack. It can't access ICE so it's useless. Actual scenario - attempting to do something - was logged in, crashed, can't come back due to being stuck at endless attempting to connect ICE server.
and my inet connections is fine since I do get the phone home check to advise I need an update and can download it.

So here's the actual problem - it's attempting to connect to a domain that's currently not online - I was in Heron when I crashed but now it's attempting to connect to Jungle (that's offline). While fixable - why would this block? If this is the way it is anyone logging out and returning later where last location is now offline would not be able to get even to a point where they could go to somewhere that is online. I don't think this would be classed as desired behavior.

And - best of all - it's only an illusion. The GUI window was minimized making it seem it was stuck at DOS window.

HiFi now uses C++ 11, correct? ... If so, do the OSX and Linux compilers support constructor chaining?

C++11: yes. I'm not sure about the compiler support, and it will probably vary depending on the system, but typically clang has been pretty good in terms of c++11-feature support.

Thanks. I suppose I'll find out for certain when I do a PR build : )

anyone else has this with their entity server? :

[DEBUG] [02/18 22:49:46] [entity-server] Entity server [ EntityServer(0x25d87d0) ]: client connected - starting sending thread [ OctreeSendThread(0x7f926413e210) ]
assignment-client: /home/hifi/hifi/build/externals/glm/glm/include/glm/gtx/../gtc/matrix_transform.inl:226: glm::detail::tmat4x4<T, (glm::precision)0u> glm::perspective(const T&, const T&, const T&, const T&) [with T = float]: Assertion `aspect != static_cast<T>(0)' failed.

then it dies and restarts and the same happens.

do agents registered with HiFi have a permanent assigned UUID that's exposed? I see the session UUID can be had via JS call, but not seeing something that could be tied to a specific AV as an identifier as in SL/OS where a UUID is available. Checked docs finding nothing of use, figured worth a try to ask before looking deeper.

yeah I noticed that problem too @nbq. The cause appears to be an ViewFrustum::aspectRatio that is initialized to zero.
I wonder if that was recently added/changed. I'll check the blame-tool
