@nbq is it possible to use your script also for Ubuntu?

@Vytek I have currently not written one for Ubntu but still considerng it - The reason I use CentOS is because for hosting its the indusutry standard (my background) and I consider hosting a domain as hosting a domain (ok little joke there)

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on Amazon, and I can execute nbq's script on a docker centos image.

What are the firewall ports need to be opened on the server side? tcp 40100 and udp 40102?
Jason Hawks
@nbq
Mar 24 2015 20:42
tcp is correct, udp i do 40101 to 40103

Can I control and manage a remote installed domain server instance with stack manager? If I have the domain server running on Amazon cloud, would I be able to run stack manager locally in my Windows machine and deploy content to the remote domain server?
Jason Hawks
@nbq
Mar 24 2015 21:32
no, you just have to use manual commands on linux
or with my script ‘restarthifi’ or to rebuild it ‘compilehifi'
Reggie Chen
@lazydino
Mar 24 2015 21:34
OK, so stack manager is pretty much for domain server runs on Mac or Windows.
Jason Hawks

yes

I can visit http:[myamazonserverip]:40100 to config the domain server, and I can run interface client directly against the DNS of my amazon server, and connect to starry space. Do I have a successful deployment?
Jason Hawks
@nbq
Mar 24 2015 22:09
if you can use the client to go to your ip then yes
it will say connected up top
err if it doesnt say not connected
you are good

I've also registered a place name and associate it with my domain, but I could not use hifi url like hifi://myplace to connect to my domain. What might go wrong? I set 'Automatic Networking' as full on both my domain server config page and metaverse.highfidelity.io
Jason Hawks
@nbq
Mar 24 2015 22:15
full networking is good but first try to make sure you can connect via the ip address
if that works then you need to make sure the right domain id is assigned in the domain manager (ip:40100"
)
Reggie Chen
@lazydino
Mar 24 2015 22:16
Yes, that is the first thing I did, and it doesn't say 'not connected', so I assume my server is good.
Jason Hawks
@nbq
Mar 24 2015 22:17
ok so you got your account token set in the domain server?
Reggie Chen
@lazydino
Mar 24 2015 22:20
Yes, I assume I do the right thing, if I don't have the security token set correctly, could I still connect via IP?
Jason Hawks
@nbq
Mar 24 2015 22:20
yes
one second, i will link you to a document

I buy a place name, and update with a logo image, and my place would get published automatically on the directory page?
when it works correctly, it should yes
Reggie Chen
@lazydino
Mar 24 2015 22:38
I didn't change anything, but it seems working now. Both DNS and hifi url serve me the same starry space, but I still did not see my place published in the directory page....

Would I be able to change the content from 'Space' to something like 'Floating Island' with your compile/run script?
Jason Hawks

I can tell you how to get it

you can either manually load it with these svo files: (read type) https://github.com/nbq/hifi-compile-scripts/blob/master/centos7-run-hifi.sh
or click marketplace link on your domain
it loads them in too
you can always im me on skype, easier for me, my skype is “holoshed” but I will drop you an email too

Downloaded the floating island svo file, what is the next step? Upload the file to my server and load the content by changing run-hfi.sh? You can deploy the content from the 'marketplace' link?
Jason Hawks
@nbq
Mar 24 2015 23:20
yes, you can deploy from the marketplace button, for now, you need to actually go through and kill the process for assignment-client and domain-server before you load it in, manually using say these two:
pkill -f "[d]omain-server” and pkill -f "[a]ssignment-client"
i will add a killhifi command next
but once you do that, go into resources
then mv models.svo models.svo.bk and then say
wget http://hifi-public.s3.amazonaws.com/content-sets/floating-island/models.svo
then, if you installed using my script, you can just do runhifi
