Hi, I'd like to make some program/game suggestions, where would I do that please?

You could make them here!

OK! Well 1) create a world or server/destination for tutorials & learning (maybe call it HiFi-U or something), a place people can go to learn how to use the program. I, for one, am baffled on where or how to start but I'd be willing to put up tutorials in a server owned by HiFi (I can't afford my own server fee atm). 2) create a world or server/destination landing zone with people volunteering to man the place to help newcomers (like me). I've been in alpha several months but I have no clue how to even set items out let alone help others, but again, I'd be willing to learn and man the gate so to speak ... and I'm sure others would be willing to also.

Yes but I didn't find anything really helpful there.
It's much nicer to actually meet people and get help & direction that way. I can't even tell where people are let alone find anyone. It's quite lonely.

here is a version that gives info about some basics on editing and placing objects or "entities" https://docs.highfidelity.com/docs/importing-content-and-editjs - as for people, the best place for that is a meetup, they announce those in the forums, you can network some there
otherwise post in the forums, get involved in discussions or create one
right now, I wont lie, most people who are in world tend to afk there as they work on other stuff, unless you find a discussion going on... you can click someones name to go where they are
on the friends list
or avatars online list probably better called, not remembering official word for it as im not in world

Thanks for the input. I saw a video Phil did where he says SL was difficult to learn and because of that people wouldn't stay long. Now I've been in SL some five years but I can say the first year or two was extremely difficult and if he doesn't want a repeat then the suggestions I made are valid.

I think so too, I am not in world as much as I used to be though as I focus mostly on the back end of stuff, making sure everything compiles like it should and stuff like that then helping others who compile their own servers

Things I'd like to know for myself is stuff like how to get my own avatar in world, the default avs leave much to be desired. I'm working on a couple avs and it would be nice to be able to use them in HF. What format does it have to be in, how do I upload it, etc
Well I did get a server but I can't seem to figure out how to be on the land I imported from MP

You know what, getting your own avatar in world is something a lot of people want to know how to do right and without Maya, its a hard task as blender is not sufficient in some areas

Well that's not good then is it LOL most peeps use blender because it's free. What format is the avs in for HF?

the format is fbx, but because of the bones and other issues, its hard to get them to mesh at times, search the forums for blender
Judas would be a great person to talk to about that, same with Menithal
Menithal has done some awesome work at getting an avatar from blender into HiFi

k well I hope they take my suggestions into consideration because these are things that need doing before you go beta and beyond. people need to have a place to go where they can learn in an interactive way ... reading is not very interactive and this is a 3D community type program LOL
Unfortunately the hours I'm on is between midnight and 5am Pacific so I generally don't see anyone, now would I know how to contact people since I can't tell who else is online besides me nor where they are.

the forums is the best option, I just chime in on basic stuff to try to help people

Ya, again tho, not very interactive ... as in you could be in world all by yourself, and so it is.

the thing is, most alpha testers the "stay" around now are geeks who are working on something specific, you can find people to chat with sometimes but if you look at the list generally its people that work for hifi and some afkers, not all the time, but a lot of the time, thats just my observation
LaNiHa

k well I think they'd have more alpha testers that "stay" around if there was at least a greeter to help them with the basics
Thanks for the chat nbq, I'll be off, take care ;o}

So when do you expect this program to go into beta testing
