Hi. I'm marinating in edit.js right now and wondering if anyone can explain overlays to me. I had a hunch that they were the red outline on an entity in edit mode but I haven't been able to prove it to myself.

Not sure if that's what you're are talking about, but we have entities, which are simulated, network synched objects and overlays, that are only rendered locally.
You can have model overlays.

I'm looking at entityIconOverlayManager. I think it's the icon that shows up over particles and lights
yea, that's it :D

I only know about bits of edit.js. Its use of overlays is not an area I've encountered.

@MrRoboman Basicly everything if im not mistaken is an overlay in Edit.js and an overlay is a entity thats local to you.

Cool thanks. I was specifically looking at IconOverlay which is the particle icon or light icon that shows up on their respective entities, not the box that appears for positioning and resizing. Level Up!

Basicly the same thing there just using an image verses an entity.
I beleive the code that controls them is in the area of line 1800+
inside of entitySelectionTool that is

When you grab and item and equip it, what property determines where on the entity it connects to your hand?
(i.e. I m working on an item but while I seem to be able to grab it anywhere, it only stays attached if I grab it in the middle)
