I'm new to hifi, so I apologize if this is a question that gets asked a lot, but is there a workaround to the "version mismatch" error besides installing an older version of hifi?

@AugustWasilowski no there's no way around it. If you're trying to connect to our servers, we have basically 2 sets. Some that track our official stable release, and some that track the current most up to date version of master.

Gotcha. So the welcome server is on 7710, I'm currently installing that build.

Correct, a version mismatch basically means we've updated the protocol between the client and servers, so they can't understand each other anymore.
It doesn't happen every release, but it happens fairly frequently.

Do you have a timeline of when you guys are going to release the next stable build?

If you are interested we have a dev-welcome server, which is a copy of welcome but on the latest dev version.

It's roughly every 2 weeks, but it depends on how the release process goes.

If you go to github, you can see our current release milestone: https://github.com/highfidelity/hifi/milestones

Once we hit that milestone, we'll open an RC PR that'll get reviewed and fixed up as needed before it goes live: highfidelity/hifi#12229
When that gets merged, a new version will go live within the hour.
Hope that helps!

Hey I've got a question about avatars. I'm having an issue with an avatar I packaged and uploaded. Is this an appropriate place to ask about that?
When I load my avatar, I keep falling through the floor and I'm having weird collision issues.
If I disable collisions I don't fall but I also don't walk on the ground

Hmm, sounds like the collision shapes aren't getting generated correctly.
Maybe @AndrewMeadows would have an idea?
You can also ask on the forum https://forums.highfidelity.com/

There's a lot of people there that make avatars and can probably help you.
No worries.

I did come up with a fix for my issue. I figure I'd let people know just in case. I had an fbx that came from Maya originally (made by a friend of mine). I pulled it into blender to make some cosmetic tweaks. I exported that fbx to Mixamo and got an fbx for unity from there. When I packaged and uploaded it into HiFi, the collision volumes were WAY huge. The fix was to export it as an obj from Blender and go through the process again. Now collisions are properly sized.
I'll post my story to the forums, just in case other people have the same issue.
