@hrj
Oh, it indicates how much of the code has been covered by the tests.
Had a quick look at the PR and it looks fine
You can continue along the same path, and update the PR by pushing commits to the same branch.
Chidu
@chidu8
Thanks.
I would need some help in understanding the code, particularly Process.scala
..rather the design
hrj
@hrj
Hmm.. I don't know how much detail is required. I suggest you ask me questions and I will try to answer them.
or, for now, let's get the PR completed as much as possible and then tackle the unknown parts.
Chidu
@chidu8
okay

Variable Refactoring (renaming) is not working in Scala IDE. Have you tried it?
Which IDE do you use?
hrj
@hrj
I use Eclipse Mars. Yeah, the refactoring doesn't always work well in Scala.
though it is much better than it used to be 6 years ago :smile:
hrj
@hrj
@chidu8 Is the PR ready to be merged? There are couple of renames pending, but I can do them myself after merging if you are not working on it.
Chidu
@chidu8
@hrj There are a lot more renames pending :) but you can go ahead with the merge for now.
Scala Refactoring not working is turning out to be a problem, as i have to manually change everything
hrj
@hrj
cool
Chidu
@chidu8
So for now, we can merge, and maybe take it up again later
cool
you had wanted to assign another ticket to me. Which one is that? Can i take it up?
hrj
@hrj
There's a PR pending that needs some further work before merge: hrj/abandon#54
It was implemented by an intern and her time ran out before she could finish it.
The relevant issue is hrj/abandon#50
It requires modifying the GUI. Is that something that interests you?
Chidu
@chidu8
Ideally i don't want to get into GUI at this point
I have no experience, and i am more interested in backend work
Are there any non-GUI tasks you have in mind?
hrj
@hrj
yeah, there are lots :)
planning it out now.
Chidu
@chidu8
cool
hrj
@hrj
This one is an important one: hrj/abandon#5
Chidu
@chidu8
cool, i'll look into it. I may need a little more context
hrj
@hrj
sure, the idea is to create scopes just as in programming languages. Scopes can be used to define variables or default accounts, etc.
These variables and directives will only be visible / applicable in that scope.
Scopes should be allowed to be nested (but that requirement can be relaxed in the first-cut)
This will be very useful when one has to enter lots of transactions of a similar kind. For example, cash related transactions can be put into one scope, where the default account is cash. Reduces typing immensely.
Chidu
@chidu8
looks good
When you created the issue, did you have of a way to implement? It will help me hit the ground running
*think of a way
Chidu
@chidu8
Or even if you have any vague ideas, that will be useful
did you think of a way
hrj
@hrj
Nope, I haven't thought of a concrete way.
Chidu
@chidu8
sorry for the multiple posts, i did not meant to italicize.
i tried * and it became italics
hrj
@hrj
A little off track, but how much time do you intend to spend on abandon? I should have asked this before.
Chidu
@chidu8
I don't have a specific time in mind. My goal is to contribute to an active Scala project, which has a mentor :)
If you're working on another active Scala project, that is also fine with me
hrj
@hrj
cool. #5 is a rather big task.
Chidu
@chidu8
Also i want to make a substantial contribution, so #5 suits me.
hrj
@hrj
Nope I am working on an active Java project (gngr)
oh, that's great then!
Chidu
@chidu8
But i will need some help and guidance
hrj
@hrj
sure, I am there to help.
Chidu
@chidu8
cool
