OK, so after creating a container and setting —net=host these issues have dissapeared, so it does seems to be an issue casued by the NAT that docker is doing for the containers, anyone got any ideas what might be causing this, i’m going to try a reinstall this evening to see if it resolves the issue?

@marbon87 As an advanced user you might try our new HypriotOS image for RPi2 https://github.com/hypriot/image-builder-rpi There is no occidentalis there. Please give us feedback what is missing in that image.

@StefanScherer is that project readt for production?
i found the reason/solution for the problem. first i had to uncomment the settings in the occidentialis.txt and second there is a bug in dhclient. the solution for the bug is described here: http://blog.schlomo.schapiro.org/2013/11/setting-hostname-from-dhcp-in-debian.html

Yes have having the same image for all is hugely important. The old Hypriot would Simone increment if there was a duplicate host. Could the cluster munitions Mage do the same?

@marbon87 Thanks for the link. The image-builder-rpi v0.1.2 works pretty well. Resize on firstboot, docker and some docker tools preinstalled as you know it. Works for RPi2. If you plan to run unmodified SD card images for a cluster that's worth a look at it. We would love to get feedback if running w/o occidentalis would make thinks easier or which we have to add to our "device init" step that we are working on.
