I am happy to share my cube photos and videos with you. Also make new ones if you want. :)
Bob Miller
@kbob
Do you have pics of cubes other than ours?
Piotr Esden-Tempski
@esden
Only very few. i tried to collect all the cube photos I came across, but these were mostly the ones you were posting. :)
I have a few that @zzaurak posted in here
I have to find a good way to share that folder with you...
Bob Miller
@kbob
You're so organized...
Piotr Esden-Tempski
@esden
At the end you are correct, the creators of the cubes should share them with you for the blog post.
Bob Miller
@kbob
If they want to. No pressure.
Piotr Esden-Tempski
@esden
pressure :P

I'm wondering if someone would do me the favor and type in the copyright message (or take a picture) of the RasPi 4 board.
Bob Miller
@kbob
Like this?

@ChuckM
Thanks @kbob , I got a couple from Seeed Studio and they had the 2018 Copyright and I thought they might be counterfeit. (It cost less to buy them and ship them DHL 3 day than buying them from Digikey for example). I am also putting one in the FLIRC case and it seemed like it didn't fit but after some jiggling I got it to go.
Bob Miller
@kbob
The Raspberry Pi 4 is longer than the 3. The board is the same size but the USB and Ethernet connectors stick out further.
Chuck McManis
@ChuckM
Yeah, the FLIRC case (https://flirc.tv/more/raspberry-pi-4-case) takes that into account.

@gregdavill
@kbob Nice writeup! Good to see you haven't had issue with WiFi
I was thinking that using a ESP32 as an interface into the small cube I'm designing.
Bob Miller
@kbob
To be fair, I’ve never tried Wi_Fi from more than about 2 meters away...

Piotr Esden-Tempski
@esden
@kbob Also not at a large event, I have not tried that either. Wifi from devices like that usually fails miserabely when there is a bunch of wifi hotspots around.
Bob Miller
@kbob
Teardown and DefCon don’t count as large events?
@tnt_twitter downcased. The public pages will update in a minute.
tnt
@tnt_twitter
@kbob Thanks :) And nice write up btw !
Now you just need a construction guide :p
Bob Miller
@kbob
That’s next.
I wanted to get all the credit out to everyone else working on cubes.
Piotr Esden-Tempski
@esden
@kbob Teardown does not count as large... DefCon definitely does count but I did not try to test out wifi over there. :)

@zaurak Can you remind me the RPi model I need ?

Ok everyone, the soft launch of the new discord server is here. Yes we are moving. I will be announcing and setting up more active redirects in the near future. Discord server invite: https://discord.gg/P7FYThy

@/all most of you probably already saw, we are moving the chat from Gitter to Discord. As the move to Discord is going pretty well I would like to invite the rest of you, who only have mention notifications enabled. ;) Join us on Discord chat for all the fun and information about ongoing projects. Share your progress help others and ask questions. The Discord invite link is: https://discord.gg/P7FYThy While I have your attention already, we also have a forum. You can post your questions and project logs there too. https://forum.icebreaker-fpga.com/

@vifino
@kbob Nice! Speaking of downcasing, I'm written lowercase as well. ;)

ApplePi What if one doesn't want to use discord because of privacy violations and bad terms of service.
Piotr Esden-Tempski
@esden
ApplePi I understand, unfortunately no solution is perfect. There is always a reason why one or other chat platform will have some type of issue. Fortunately we also have the Discourse forum to share your projects, ask questions and interact with the community: https://forum.icebreaker-fpga.com/
Just to make sure the links don't get moved too far up in the chat log, here is a link where you can find the new official Discord chat: https://1bitsquared.com/pages/chat and here is the link to our forum: https://forum.icebreaker-fpga.com/ see you all there! :D

@veloxsouth_gitlab
I just got my icebreaker fpga!
Piotr Esden-Tempski
@esden
@veloxsouth_gitlab great to hear that! Please join our Discord chat https://1bitsquared.com/pages/chat, or our forum https://forum.icebreaker-fpga.com/ as the channel here is discontinued. You will have a chance to reach more of the community members through the other channels. :D (I know that by accident some of the thank you notes in the packages still include the Gitter chat link instead of Discord.)

@tucanae47
hello guys one question
planning to play with led panels for the ice breaker LED pmod, would this aliexpress LED panel work? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32980497304.html
it seems led panel from icebreaker website is out of stock
Camilo
@tucanae47
just figured out from twitter and github the correct panels :)
Piotr Esden-Tempski
@esden
Hi @tucanae47, welcome to the icebreaker community.
First of all, this chat is not really active any more. We all have moved to Discord: https://1bitsquared.com/pages/chat
How did you find this gitter channel? I think I fixed all the links I could so that you should be ending up on discord instead.
That said, the LED panels should be in stock at least in the US 1BitSquared store.
The panels with the ICN chip are also available through CrowdSupply: https://www.crowdsupply.com/1bitsquared/icebreaker-fpga and mouser:
